Thanks! I had a quiet Christmas this year and decided to keep marching forward. All the new LEDs will have a a flash pattern to them as to not overwhelm the area with lights. We still have to add the floor lights and the actual corridor lamps as well. We're hoping to keep it visually interesting w/o it being over the top.

Very interesting! If real, note the changes in Chewie's bandolier. We all know the Falcon will have some changes to her. Again, if real, I like the use of the blue in this version as opposed to the PT Falcon. The dish is VERY RM'esque - love that element. The mandibles are extra LONG.

You are correct! Han states he's made a LOT of modifications. When you buy a hot rod you're bound to make to your own mods to fit your own personal taste.
That last bit sums it up for me Sofa. It's been known since day one that the Falcon was a "heavily modified Corellian YT1300 freighter" so if you're going to do an "origin" story, it best not look like it does when it makes it's appearance in ANH. Hell, looks aside, I just want to see it do the Kessel run. Lol. Sad Disney changed the story up. One of my favorite book scenes is his kids making the same run... I believe it was in a tie if I recall correctly...

A lot of people are upset that Disney threw out the EU. I have no issue with it. So long as we continue to get great stories... I'll be just fine! I'm looking forward to seeing on screen for a longer period of time. They teased us with the MF in the TLJ - and that was wrong!
Oh don't get me wrong... I could have worded that better. I do agree that Disney (for the most part) is doing a great job just sad there are a lot of EU things that will never see the big screen with the reboot. (I have somewhere around 200 books I've read cover to cover, some two three times.) I do agree as well we need more MF time in EP 9. To me, that ship is as much of a character as the people who fly it. And THAT'S coming from someone who is mostly an Empire fan. Sorry... I just realized I've derailed on your thread sofa! Lol. I hope everybody had a wonderful and safe New Year! Let's make 2018 awesome!
Not much work this long holiday weekend. The temps have dropped into the single digits (those of you in the northern parts of the US and Canada - bundle up!) which made it really difficult to do anything. I love the cold but even I have a breaking point! BUT... let's not dwell.
FINALLY finished up the extension panel covers and hinges
I added two magnets per door
Found these angle brackets and they worked perfectly
They look like angle brackets. I think they need to be dressed with something
Work continues on the master corridor pad
Unfortunately, the cold keep creating more cracks
Painted and mounted the new capstone trim piece
The nav chair pieces got another round of sanding. Fortunately, these will be replaced by new prints being done by the man who modeled them! Iz was nice enough to print three sets of the greeblies!
Adhered together
Primer
Lets move to the maint console - adding pinstripes to the upper panel
How will this panel look back-lit?
Moving forward, I then removed the lower skirt from the upper panel
Just as I did the others, I'm finishing up the basic look of the panel - new surround
Adhered the surround in place and cut its sister panel for the droid sockets
Filler
Sanded and primed
Much better!
Test fit
Nice clean and flush edges
With the filler and primer drying I laser cut these red acrylic pieces
Remember these oddly shaped openings?
Mounted the acrylic to the back side (I really like this pic. It looks like the rear engines to a cruiser)
Turn it back over
These will also be back-lit. Going to try to add a pulse effect
Tough to see but there is a single LED behind the acrylic
Lots of sanding required to get everything to fit
Other areas of concern were the holes for the LEDs. I had to remove material so the back plate wouldn't interfere with the wiring
I then laser cut these red acrylic donuts for the LEDs to mount
More material removed
Cover plate was painted and pinstriped
I love these details but I think the satin black is too dominate a color for this area
Satin granite
I like it!
The granite pulls from the socket housing
I had to recut this panel again so we could see certain areas of the screen

Daniel downloaded a few vids
Very PT looking
Simple and basic... I like it!
