You're INSANE and I have mad respect for you as a maker and a Star Wars fan.....boy what I'd give to help you on this, or even to just flick some of those switches and doodads in there....

Well pick me up off of the floor. This is a thing of beauty that gets more beautiful as time passes by.

My hat off to all involved on this. This is just outstanding.

Hi HH,

Thanks so much! I think you hit the nail on the head. Insane is the perfect word to describe our efforts. You are certainly welcome anytime. Fingers crossed that she's able to travel the world someday. :)

Hi R,

Thanks! As I mentioned above, I hope the cockpit is able to travel the world one day so everybody can get an opportunity to enjoy. When the cockpit is finished I'm going to sleep for a month! When I wake up I'm rolling over and going back to sleep! ;)

Hi Gang,

What a weekend! The later part of this post are time progression photos so I wont bother you any commentary. Simply sit back and enjoy! :)

Whoa! that's one of the weirdest things that has ever happened to me. My son and wife are in the living room watching that movie and the dad literally said that line not even a second before I read it in your post.

Hi Gang,

It has been raining non-stop since Sunday. It looks like the rain finally broke and I should be able to get back outside and do something... With that, there's not much of an update but the canopy boxes are now finished!

Ok Greg... I have a solution for the whole "How to get it out of the garage" mess... see... here's what you do... you tear the wall out of the side exposed to the outside... then get a bunch of jacks and put them under the house foundation and lift the house and move it to left/right about 30-50 feet. Then you put the house back down and viola... it's out!

A really unbelievable art project and a work of absolute unreal dedication. I honestly don't know how you are getting so many details right. What kind of reference pictures must you have? How do you know what some of the lesser seen sides even look like?

And then to get minute greeblies accurate -- how much would you say you are fabricating from scratch? Not found?

All I can say is thanks for the wonderful images. When you're done, you need to do an epic photo shoot. Wallpapers for everyone!

Unusually quiet here, must all be working round the clock on the cockpit project!

He probably bent his laser bit again and ripped a hole in the fabric of time. If that's the case then I calculate he'll probably return in about 13.562 hours... but he might have a bit of time lag and need to take a shower before getting back online to post anything again. That new laser cutter has been causing these problems since he got it! LOL

Hello Mister King, I've been a silent fan of your work for a little more than 2 years if not 3 I don,t remember.. And I'm beyond excitement to see the extraordinary job you,ve done since de beginning. I've waited until today to create a profile just to tell you how much i love your work and dedication... I should,ve done it earlier but i think i wasn,t able then to create a profile! Oh well, I'm from Montréal Canada. Yes i'm a french canadian with a good english LOL i'm a costume desinger and set designer. and I love building stuff. I,ve been selling paints in a hardware store for almost 20 years so I follow your painting steps closely! LOL I'm a puppeteer as well . but just for friends. and i do a good Yoda and threepio voices. As you see on my profile pics i,ve made my own Jedi costume from scratch. So that's all for now can't wait for the next update! Bon Dimanche. Éric

Hello!

I'm not sure I've introduced myself. I'm Jake and I've been working on the Cockpit with Greg for 2 years (I'm responsible for the lights and the programming). Right now, I've been working on the wiring for all the lights on the Console getting ready for the premiere.

I know that the wiring I/we did for the first version wasn't really that good looking, so this time around I'm taking my time and really making it look good. Fortunately we had help getting all the LEDs glued in and wires extended to where they need to go. Right now the 5v wiring and power supply is completely installed on the main Console. The 120v NEMA plug still has to be installed and the wiring completed on the sub panels.

For right now we will be lighting all the lights all on for the Console. After the 18th I'll go back and plug in an Arduino and animate it.

As for the Cockpit, we currently have 4 Arduinos installed for controlling most of the lights. Right now we'll only be blinking a few lights but the Arduinos are set up for our future plans. After the 18th we will install a switch that will turn the Cockpit on and off, so to speak. We will be duplicating the scene from ESB where Han is starting the Falcon to escape Hoth and has to bang on the door to get it to work. Also, I have some plans to be able to activate some Cockpit actions from the Console. I don't want to spoil anything yet (in case it turns out different) but it should be pretty cool.

As for the Cockpit itself Greg and the gang are hard at work getting greeblies and LEDs installed and working. We've been working hard getting it ready (as Greg has posted earlier). Fortunately we've gained a lot of help today. If this keeps happening we should be ready for the premiere in plenty of time.

Here are some pictures of the wiring of the Console as it is right now. More to come later.
