Princess Bride Goblets - opinions about details?

I'm hoping to have a pair of goblets from the Princess Bride made. Currently, I have a potter who is interested in trying to make these with a metallic glaze. Another option might be to mold and cast it afterwards with a metal powder. You can see what is probably the mold line in the screen caps.

But first I need to decide on some measurements. So I was hoping you guys could help me out! Here is one screen cap of the goblets:

And here is another:

- How many divisions on the top half of the goblet? 6 I think. You can tell that the button detail is alternating sizes (larger/smaller) as is the vertical line.

- Should the bottom half of the cup be darker than the top half? It seems that way in most shots, but there's one shot where it seems to be the same shade. So is that a trick of the light? It seems to be indented, at least.

- What is that detail between the cup and the stem? I've watched the scene several times on my DVD but can't make it out. Seems like another leaf shape?

- How many leaves along the bottom of the cup? I think 8.

- What should be the height of the goblet? The width? Ratio of cup to stem? The handy wine glass in my house is 6.75" which seems reasonable. The width at the stem appears to be about 20% wider than the mouth of the cup. When the goblet is sitting next to the wine bottle, it's a little over half the height of the wine bottle.

Anyone want to give their input? I'd appreciate assistance to get this right!

Can't help much with size, but I've seen pewter goblets similar to those in the Museum Replica's catalog a few year back. You might check to see if they might have them still or if they have the name of their supplier so you could contact them for dimensions and such.

If someone has the Blu-ray, you might get some better images and bit more detail. I love this film, but have not bought the BD yet.

Yeah blu-ray caps would be very helpful if possible. Those caps above are from an avi because it was easier to get those. I have the SE DVD but couldn't make out more useful details.

You think 6 leaves? You can see 5 around on the bottom photo. You think there's only one more hidden behind? Might be right.

I second the notion of 6 leaves, there's definitely too much room in the part facing away from the camera to not have a leaf and just be blank.

I don't know about everyone else, but I gotta have a wall full of ref pics before I start guessing on the measurements of anything. Even then I make a lot of errors!? :)

I'm not familiar with this movie, but found a place that had some pretty good screen caps. Not as many angles as I'd like to see, but perhaps there are more out there. Here are some of the screen caps cropped and re-sized just as samples of what's there. Links to these full size and more images on leavemethewhite.com at the end of this post. Hope these help.

Maybe this drawing will make it more clear for you.... All of the leaf that you can see has a button above it..then you just draw lines right across the cup and get the opposite button and leaf.. Thus only 6 leaf.

Nice, contec. Makes me feel much more confident about going with 6 for both. I also appreciate the screencaps that shylaah provided. Except shylaah really should see the movie :)

It's shot 323 that makes me not quite convinced that there's a different coloration for the bottom half of the cup section.

The goblets are definitely all one color. The bottom half of the goblet is deeply recessed, so it's shadowed. I'll try to see if I can make a drawing that explains this a little better...

Hey folks, found this place linked through Google images after I re watched the movie Princess Bride for about the 10th time. but I had previously never noticed the goblets. Just so happens I've got one... Have had it for as long as I can remember and would like to know what you guys think of it.

GuyWithQuestion, thats amazing that you have one. Do you think you could give us any details on it? Dimensions, material, any makers marks? I'm curious if they were pewter or painted ceramic myself. Where did you acquire it if you remember? Is it something that you would be willing to part with? I know I would love to have a pair of them myself :) What I think would be cool is if this is a one of a kind and not a licensed item to get a 3d scan of it and see if we could arrange a 3d printed/lost wax copy to be made for casting copys.

Sorry for bringing up a dead post but I found some more details.

Today I was doing an internet search and guess what showed up as the second picture under the image options.

I followed the links through pintrest to an etsy listing

Unfortunitly they sold last year sometime so I wasn't able to aquire them, but it did provide a few more pictures and the size. 6-3/4" tall X 3-1/2" in diameter

a few more pics and the search continues. I am determined to have a pair of these one day, wither I purchase them or make them myself.
