Rebel Blockade Runner/Corellian Corvette 1/2-Studio Scale

For this year's Sci-Fan model show, I scratched a Corellian Corvette (aka Rebel Blockade Runner) skeleton/framework at exactly 1/2 studio-scale to promote my new book (due out December 1). This model was never intended to be skinned or otherwise finished. The whole thing is made from 040 styrene. It was designed entirely in the computer and all parts were laser cut. Time required to finish: 3 days to design the model and another 3 days to build it.

The original plan was to include all the engines, but the butyrate tubing I special ordered did not arrive until the day before the show. In addition, I did not count on it being as dense and heavy as acrylic (never worked with butyrate before). The resulting engines weighed so much there was no way the structure could handle it. Had I known that the engines would be so heavy, I would have designed a completely different structure for the engine box.

I'll have a new website for the book by Nov. 1. More info will be posted here and on my site when the time comes.
