Was Loki controlling the physicist or influencing him when he repeated the words Loki said? Or was it kinda like subliminal influence?

I would say just influence. Pure control wouldn't work since he'd need the guy's scientific knowledge to make the cube work.

Loki should know how to work the cube it is from his world and was once in odins vault and think he had control of him
