Judge Dredd ABC warrior references

I've recently started getting interested in building a lifesize ABC warrior from the 1995 Judge Dredd movie. Ok to be honest I've been getting interested in THINKING about building a lifesize ABC warrior :)

There are some excellent images on page 4 of this thread (courtesy of Vince Vader) of the screen used robot.
There are also some HUGE images of the head courtesy of Art Andrews. These are invaluable if you're tackling a head build

Here's a list of threads and sites I've been able to dreddge up from these boards and google so far that have useful pics and some awesome WIPs. I'd be grateful if anyone can add to this list and make any recommendations:

thanks Oneye I really hope there are some more resources out there that can be added to this start, especially dimensions :)

One thing I've just noticed looking at the youtube footage was that there were TWO abc warriors in Ian Dury's shop...

Nice one Zorg!

Hey Mxlplx yes me too :)

Funnily enough I just met a couple who have a ABC warrior in their house. It came out of a cinema that had it on display for years. The cinema decided to get rid of it about a year and half ago and put a article in a local newspaper about selling it for a nominal fee. At the time I was pretty keen on it but they offered more money and picked it up.

I always wondered what happened to it so a couple of weeks ago and a few phone calls later I was able to track it down. Turns out its just around the corner from where I live!

I've offered to do some refurbishing and maybe some additional detailing to make it more screen accurate but this has led to wanting to make my own :behave

There have been alot of starts to an ABC project but not alot of finishers so it would be nice to do.

I don't have persmission to post any pics yet but I will ask and add them to this thread

I know there's a life-size ABC warrior pic on these boards, someone made it and put it outside their house? :)

Is this the Image your referring to :love

Yeeaaahhh!!! nice work dude! that thing rocks. Is there a thread on the boards for that I would love to see WIP. You must be about the only person to complete one of these well done

I spotted this years ago, kit bashed part on the heads right hand side, never seen it mentioned so here it is anyway.

not sure what scale the kit part is, maybe 1/35 but more likely 1/48.

wow zorg that's a great find! If I could get hold of one of those I'd have a solid dimension to base all the others from. Might have to start looking :behave

Got anymore gems like that? anyone else?

ok, i have just "checked" i can confirm in my snobbish elitist manner it is a 1/72 kit. here is a pic of my esci kit which matches up pretty well. ignore the add on bits i put on it, i converted it to a sgt. york variant. i think the "searchlight cover" is part 9 on the instructions in the link. it looks like the inside face of the searchlight

That's great Zorg nice detective work! It makes sense they would use multiple parts from the same kitset so I am sure you are right. What about part 21 for some of the smaller round details?

Zorg can I trouble you for a measurement? I'd really like to know the length from the inside of the turret ring to the edge. With a solid measurement like that you could get pretty close with everything else on the head :D

Nice thread, this is a wish list project for me too. I'll keep watching the thread. I might have a few photos from my research to post too.

that would be great fingers. Anything you've got will help. The more i look at the material out there and the challenge it would be to make the more I want to make it! ABC builders seem to be willing to share any info and ideas which makes for a fun project

Here's a pic of the abc warrior that lives down the road from me. For years it was on display at a cinema along with a reasonably decent hoverbike and judge. I will probably be doing some detailing of this beast at some stage and a few repairs. Any suggestions for improvement welcome

here is the measurement, i'm not sure on the part 21. the actual kit parts don't look like the head part. the kit part 21 is 5mm by the way.

I thought I had already posted them up, but I took a TON of pics of the ABC robot head at Prop Store. Give me some time and I will get them uploaded for you.

Big thanks to the guys at Prop Store for allowing me to do this!
