Sight and hood are attached.

And the wheel parts are done. I used a brass peg with a beveled end to activate the light, it was easier than making a wedge.

I just drilled through the wheel to attach the peg.

I got this far along then realized I don't have silver paint for the wheel, I'll get some tomorrow.

Very Cool. And very detailed. When ever i see a very involved build like this one I wonder did the original prop makers go through this much trouble to make the original props?

Silver paint!? You should nickel-plate it!

I tried that a few years ago, never again. Besides the paint is more authentic.

I'm sure they did, and on a tight schedule. Of course they had access to a machine shop, I don't.

"Crude methods, but effective." I made the P1 emitter from styrene tube and acrylic rod.

I cut a groove in the acrylic by spinning it in the drill press and holding a file against it. I then drilled a hole through it.

Cut to length.

And glued to the styrene tube.

I got some springs from an assortment set, and stretched one out. I then cut it to length to fit the emitter.

I also attached the thumb wheel.

Fantastic thread. I love seeing pictures of builds.
True sign of a real professional is making it look so simple.
Outstanding build!

Thanks guys!

I was going to say you could silver solder it, but I see it's been painted.

Great work.
I'm not sure what you mean. Do you mean to assemble the parts? I did silver solder it. If you mean to color it, I don't know how that would be done.

First P1 is done! I did it as the red jeweled Nona, just to give it some color. I made up numbers for the power meter. The thumb wheel and crispy is from Sporak, side rails from Trekme, thanks guys!

:eek

That is absolutely beautiful. It kinda doesn't even register as a scratch build to me anymore. It's so clean, perfectly detailed. Wow. Just, wow.

Thanks guys!

Here are some more pics with better color. Jlong phaser for comparison in a few.
