Amazing collections and display ideas

Why is it most of collections shown look like the folks putting them together only started collecting 10 to 15 years ago? Nothing vintage? Some of my prized possessions are from days long past - almost everything in these pics can be purchased still.

I would like to know where those kick ass Tardis's came from.
 
I like the idea of the ice textured wall, maybe I could do something like that and still have shelves put on the wall? I would probably do something like a rock cave? I don't know. I may have to call in an expert like Tom Spina when it's time for that.
 
I believe the ice wall was made for a Convention. Possibly Celebration 5 or 6? And I think someone here worked on it.
