Daft Punk Thomas Build

Thanks guys,

No iv never made any architectural models before, and infact, although i have always loved making things(and taking them apart) from a young age this is only my third or fourth model...

This is a concept range rover i made for a captain scarlet movie in my second year at college -

This sketch isnt the car i made but iv lost all the other sketches.

This first part of our brief was to make a kinetic powered car... so this is mine... made from carbon fiber rod, acrylic and powered by elastic bands. Hadent fitted the tyres at this point. took about 3 weeks to design and make...

second part was an actuall scale model of the final concept-

i did finish it but neither got pics of the build process or it built up... made it in 1 week. we had 5 months to complete the project but being a student i stayed in my bed for 4 months of that lol. fair to say when i turned up with this my tutor could not believe his eyes... lol

anyways i have no idea why i posted this stuff up on a props forum but ah well...

made the chin from 1.5 mm styrene today.

first made a curved template so that both sides would have similar curvature-

Then traced my cardboard template onto the styrene-

nickes were cut in the curved template to allow me to glue

My glue gun skills are by no means pretty

I love all those thread because of the hundred of techniques you learn from those guys.

Well done and I hope to see more projects in a near future :thumbsup

Amazing work, your techniques are so crips clean and calcualted, very skillful and so well thought out, your embarrashing me with my sloppy effort, although it doesn't matter how you get there, only matters what it looks like at the end eh? lol

Looking forward to the rest of this build.

Sloppy effort... if thats your sloppy effort i might as well give up now haha

cheers again though, my ocd in attention to detail seems to go down well on this forum for some reason :lol

My family and Uni tutors hate me for it lol

cheers for all the comments guys :)

Amazing man!

dont take this the wrong way.. but if you want yours uber accurate the visor is slightly off. once again its amazing, even if you dont change it. just trying to help.

still, (y)thumbsup:thumbsup

Do you mean its too tall?

The picture really doesn't represent what it looks like in real life well. The pics were taken at close range with a camera phone so the perspective is really off.

I can see how you would think it looks really far off. but its more accurate in person :)

Hey guys/gals :)

Should have some progress pics tomorrow sometime.

Helmets almost finished, will be ordering my molding supplies on Friday and molding next week hopefully.

Any updates FireWire?

i added these small styrene strips so that i would have a clean edge after the helmet was trimmed :)
