Engine Lighting Effects??

There's an X-wing lighting kit that does the pulsating engines great by Hyperdyne, should be able to adapt it over to anything you want.
The trick is one steady LED and one flickering combined.

I use several different things depending on the effect I'm trying to get. You can get circuits made to simulate welding or campfires that are made for model train sets that work great. As CD said using them along with a consent on LED (or flashing) you can create a variety of effects.

Something like this (check out the video link on the page to see it in action):

or any of the many different kits they have there will create what you want.

I got one of the LightBenders X-Wing kits and customized it to use for my scratch built rocket.

These are awesome! Great quality and don't cost an arm and a leg.

I posted some pics and videos here: http://www.therpf.com/f10/x-wing-lighting-98347/

Ahh - the key is to just have 2 LEDs with only one flickering. Simple but effective!

I'm going to try a Bakatronics kit - thanks for all the input. You guys rock!

If your going for low cost and simplicity, try the LED tiki torches from Home Depot. They look like a flickering flame and only cost about $10.00. Wait till the end of the season when they go on sale and they are half price.

:thumbsupThat's a better idea than mine.:thumbsup Thanks Johnny Fever, I'll have to use that idea for some of my future kits.
