Doctor Who Psychic Paper Scratch Build. Tutorial and templates added!

Alright, mistyped, the first template has exess material to allow for the foldover. the inner rectangle is about 4.75 X7, the outer one however is more like 5.5 x 7.7

i would try printing 1:1 with no scaling of both pieces. the width of the cardboard rectangles should match the width of the inner rectangle

there's a magic trick called thought transmitter or thought reader that looks very akin to this. if you were to print that doctors library card on acetate you could show blank paper one second and with a wave of the hand show the card.

I ended up just trimming down the template and re-drawing the border. Other than that the process has been going smoothly, but I am too lazy to post pictures :wacko. Did you sew on the back of the wallet? Not sewing there will save me a lot of trouble because of the stitch pattern I am using.

Thanks for the templates, great job, well done.

Popping to the shops for some of that old english vinyl for a wallet of my own

Aw crap I just cut my leather to 5.5x7 :facepalm
Well it's a good thing I have more, but you may want to edit your first post :/

Thanks for the awesome tutorial. Made mine today. I am not the best at sewing, but I gave it a shot. Thanks Protokev!

I lack a sewing machine to be able to do this properly, is it possible i could paypal someone to make one for me?

Thank you.

This is one of the first decent prop builds I did, thanks a ton for the tutorial and templates. I used some nice pigskin I ordered from Brettuns Village and some thin plastic instead of cardboard, and I quite like the way it turned out, though the seams could be a bit straighter:

Sewing it by hand was a real chore though, I think maybe I chose too thick a plastic for the stiffeners.

Here is my attempt at this

Followed the same steps

Only two real differences
Thicker fake-leather
Drew up the thing on paper

Here are some pics

and here is a better pic to see what it says

photo.jpg

for some reason it is sideways
i took it with my ipod, so the resolution is (for lack of a better word) crap.

also, it looks much better from afar than up close
because i suck worse at stitching and i had some problems when cutting
i am still proud of it because i saw the thread only a day ago, (more or less) and I thought I could do that
plus i only slotted the paper in so I could replace it if it gets damaged
I put a piece of plastic over the paper (it's stitched in, so it will not fall out)
you can both write on it with dry erase marker or put an interac debit card (the type you can just flash in front of the scanner and done)
so you can pretend the paper is fooling the machine. (not my idea)

I was going to try and find and accurate version of this but may just try and make my own now! Something I noticed though, there is a seller on Etsy selling one that I didn't think was quite right but looking again it does look right to the one Capaldi used. Didn't really think about them changing it but his has the wider border around the paper it seems.

Been working on some updated Library cards for all of the Doctors.

I was curious if the template for this was still floating around? I had seen it before but having looked I thought I might try and make a psychic paper wallet myself, would much appreciated if anyone happens to still have it. :)
