Movies you hate that everyone else likes

The Maltese Falcon

The Austin Powers Movies: Mostly because we all know a jerk, somewhere, who spent the next four years following the release of these films constantly walking around with a pinky pressed into the corners of his mouth doing "Dr. Evil" impersonations, spouting lines from the film, and thinking they were being funny and original. Every occassion deserved a "Dr. Evil line" done with the best that only a hack with the comedy chops of a 6 year old could deliver.

It got real old, real fast.

It's all so hysterical...AND original.

Oh!! why are there Movies I hate, that everyone else loves. Motion Pictures became THEE dominant art form by the first half of the 20th century, surpassing the Theater, the Great Novel and Fine Arts. Evolving on the shoulders of the these aforementioned creative disciplines and the mindfully driven forces of the advancing technologies that have metamorphosized movies into the highest form of modern art and most of It's variegated offspring that we see today. So if we stick within the sci-fi, horror, supernatural, fantasy and the action /adventure genre, there are groups of movies that should not count. Like films by Ed Wood, Roger Corman, William castle and a host of others. These types of films are so bad that they are wonderfully great and fun to watch. Then there are "movie firsts" which in time or overnight, become beloved classics, these movies are fare game. DISLIKES: Most comic book movies, starting with superman (1978) however the cheesy comic book movies from the late 40's, early 50's like batman are kind of fun to watch. Most disaster movies are pretty close to the bottom of the barrel. 50's, 60's, 70's British Vampire and or haunted mansion/ castle movies. assorted blockbusters like "The Exorcist" " Jaws & Hook" the only two Spielberg movies that I'm not fond of, and most sci-fi movies. I'm not to fond of the Lord of the rings and the Matrix Trilogies. There are many great stories that can be produced and released in movie theaters each year. In 2000 there were over 400+ theatrical release that year. In 2010 there were under 200 theatrical releases that year. So if the powers that be, start to release 400+ movies a per year again, of course we will see a lot more bad movies, however we will also see a few more great movies.

Start Trek 2009

Transformers and Transformers2 (and probably) Transformers3

The Departed

Scarface I tried, I really REALLY tried...

The Godfather films I'm sorry I tried on these as well but I just don't find them as interesting as say Goodfellas or the remake of Goodfellas, Casino. XD

Inception Really? People thought THAT was a good and complex and hard to follow plot? I had it figured out in the first ten minutes and I found more complexity in Total Recall XD

Star Trek2 I know, I KNOW! I'm a bad Trekkie but man, even though it wasn't as bad as the Next Gen films it was still just so bad and too much a mindless action film for me.

I'm sure I could list off more but those are films that just either stick in my craw or are just inexplicable in how people like them, well, for me anyway XD I'm sure the "I like but everyone else hates" list contains some films that would give people the same reaction like someone mentioned 2010 and me, I loved that film. XD It could just be my tastes because I used to HATE the Rockey Horror Picture Show but for some odd reason I laugh my butt off watching it now XD

ANY Harry Potter....only seen one of em, don't know which and that's because I had to drive everyone to the cinema.....i thought i was going to die half way through it......

Another Blade Runner doubter here......it's just too....up itself...

In Blade Runner's defense, I think that it's less that the movie itself is high on itself, and more the fans who talk it up constantly. There are movies that I simply have no interest in seeing, simply because of the hype surrounding them, and other movies that I loathe because of the hype that failed to deliver (as I mentioned, Crouching Tiger and Memento).

Blade Runner is one of those movies that gets people to say "OMG you HAVE to see it!" I have friends who instinctively respond with "No, I don't" (or sometimes something a bit more off-color...). I can understand the whole "God, will you SHUT UP about frickin' Blade Runner? It's just a damn movie, not a transcendental experience!!" reaction, though. The film isn't for everyone.

You Sir are NO Trekkie! :angry

Kidding... But wow. :lol :confused

I know, it's terrible and it's not that I REALLY hate it but there's just some problems I have with it that bug me, whether it's misplaced dialog (Really Spock? What's so "fascinating" about the jefferies tube now?) or how stupid Khan can act (Tactical warlord overcome by blinding anger? Didn't think there was a command code? Khan didn't or couldn't use 3 dimensional battle tactics? Huh, some genetically perfect genius.)and how irresponsible Kirk was and hell, even the movie poster dropped the ball by having the Enterprise locked in battle with... the Regula 1 science station? Remember that in the movie? At the same time there was some great character development and it WAS nice to see some ship to ship fighting even IF they didn't remember that space is three dimensional till the end. Hell, Spock dying was a HUGE deal too so. I really can't say HATE hate the movie but I have to admit that I would rather watch Star Trek 5. XD

Perhaps this will be revealing, but Spock was responding to Kirk's line "That young man (David Marcus) he's my son!"

Okay that's just crazy talk! :lol

But no problem! To each their own. :thumbsup

Oh and I do agree with what you mention- ST:II is not without some major flaws.

Was he? It came just after the part where the guy tells him the turbo lifts are out and they had to use the Jefferies tube. The way it was timed I thought Spock was just saying his trademark line. XD I'll have to watch it again really because I've been watching Star Trek 5 XD

Yeah I know. XD Actually my favorite film was Star Trek TMP but then again I always loved the more atmospheric science fiction films like that and 2001. XD

Anything that Uwe Boll has done (contrary to what most thing, lot's of people like his films)
The Scary Movie....movies
Skyline

I can overlook all of that; call it artistic license, suspension of disbelief, whatever. But the one thing that really bugs me about Star Trek II is when Merritt Butrick (David Marcus) walks onto the bridge with the sleeves of his sweater tied around his neck. Seriously. There's no reason for him to have a sweater, and the "look" really dates the movie.

And, for the record, I like Star Trek V. Now, back to the hatefest!
