New Templates from my Foam Iron Man Suit

Hey guys,

For all of you who followed my old Iron Man foam build you'll know which suit I refer too.

I want to make new patterns just so I have them for future reference and I figured now that it is all built I could use the pieces to make new patterns with less shapes to make everything up.

Before I had like 20+ pieces just to make a bicep. But looking at it now it seems like it could be done with less since foam stretches/bends.

How can I pull patterns from these 3d shapes? Wrap tissue paper around it and trace contours? use push pins? I am at a loss for ideas.

Hope you guys could help.

possibly not the cheapest method, but you could use masking tape to cover the whole section, trim the edges and peel off.

although that may mess the paint.
