Nerf Gun Props? YES!

Here's a couple finished up nerf props - the Heavy Bolter was a long WIP, but it's finally done and shipped out today :) The second one is a Borderlands themed Alpha Trooper that I finished up on as well. It will be seeing some use with a cosplay at the NYCC by a buddy of mine going as Salvador the Gunzerker, hehe

Anyone have an idea as to why the thumbnails don't seem to be appearing? I don't think I've made any changes and the photo uploads use to show a small photo as recently as just a few posts ago. Thanks!

Same thing happened with my pics. I just edited then saved it again and it worked. Weird.

Just took some more pictures hope these are a little better. Can anyone tell me why my files attach like this?

I think it might be the color(s)..

2 shades of 'copper'..(3?)

and maybe no chrome/silver in the front to tie it all in?

anyways..

I really like the 'arms' where it makes the transition into the front.

So I've been looking on this forum for a long time I thought that would get into gear and make my own prop. Thought I would start easy and convert a nerf gun. Inspiration struck the other month while watching district 9. So after a few weeks of tinkering and stuff I finished. Want to make sure that this project got finished and was not just some thing which I never really sorted.
Pretty pleased with the out come, the weathering I really liked and I feel it gave it the look of being lost in the district for years until mnu found it. Put some work in progress shots up as well to show you guys how it came together.

Enjoy

That is AWESOME! Seriously changing my mind about Nerf mods every time I drop through this thread.

This thing makes my trigger finger itchy.

Man, that's a really good one :thumbsup I've been gearing up to do a D9 mod at some point but didn't consider a pistol type, may have to add them as an option now I've seen your take on one ;)

Wow, so many good props here, I feel inadequate :( Here's a few I worked up for Halloween to go with the Borderlands costumes my wife, son, and I will have.

Clearly I have much to learn :/

I made this prop a few months ago as a little project because i was bored. I painted it with Revell paint (thats model build paint, im a modeler) but at some places the paint fell of. Im just lazy to add 2 layers of paint. I have some more painted nerf guns, ill show them later. The "L" on the side is a leftover airplane decal.

Here's my Nerf High Tide - Wastelands Edition. My original intention was to turn it into something like the Wasp revolver from Avatar; but somewhere along the way it mutated into this.

I am just now getting into this and I thought that nerf guns would be the way to start I know I have a few laying around is there any advice for me and other people, I guess. just starting to do prop weapons.

Hi all. Its my first proper post here and also my very first Nerf mod into a Steampunk weapon, so thought I'd share.

The finished product.

A Before shot, as well as some closeups. I used everything from wire screen, an old key, plastic strip, to some metal decorative bits from Michael's to add detail. I used Rub n' Buff to give it a metallic look.

Welcome to the Wonderful World of Nerf Modding. I started out on 99p store Nerf knockoffs and toy water pistols. These are great to practice on and try out various techniques, as it's no big deal if you screw up. Once I was confident enough to try it on a proper Nerf, I bought a couple of Mavericks and an Element, both great starter guns.

Preparation: Remove the innards if you don't want it to fire. Sand down all raised text and logos and plug or fill all the screw holes if you're sure you don't want to take it apart again. Give all surfaces a light sanding so the paint sticks better. Attach greeblies.

Priming: Under coat of choice - I use satin black auto spray.

Painting: Here's where you get to show your artistic talent. If you're not sure, there are some stunning pieces of work in this thread that will inspire and amaze you. I use Tamiya or Vellejo acrylics for colours and Revell enamels for the metallics. I seal the paintjob with a coat of satin Clearcote spray.

Display: Take some pics and post your masterpiece on the RPF!

Hope this helps, it might take a few attempts before you get the result you're looking for, so don't despair if the first one's not perfect. And please let us see what you come up with.
