My Prop Replica Collection - New Arrival : The Godfather

Re: My Prop Replica Collection - New Arrivals - Star Trek

These pins look really nice, are they from Rob? I'm looking to score the ChopjIH pin for my collection.

Unfortunately, I have no idea who the original maker is this time :(. I picked up the ChopjIH from ebay seller vandalcomx

Oh and if you are looking for a more screen accurate chain for your Star of Kahless, here's a link to the actual prop. The chain type you are looking for is a Wheat chain. I'm not sure of the exact thickness, but I found a seller on eBay who had one suitable, but I had to buy two to make sure it hung low enough.

...... The Chain is my addition though. I spent a whole day looking for a half-inch thick wheat chain (what the original had).

Nada.

I ended up with a 2-foot chain from my friendly ironmonger and a can of gold spray.

Looks Klingon to me :lol

Don't I know it, I had gone PC screen cross-eyed looking for the correct one :lol

You display looks great!

Thanks John :), but thank you so much for chiming in with the information. It is just great to have as much as possible :cool

A missing addition to the B5 'section' :)

Out of the dozens upon dozens of the available Star Trek figures by Playmates, none have ever caught my attention ......... except these :lol

So, from the various Star Trek series / movie, these (all of them :lol), need no introduction (unless you're blind :lol)

The nefarious Klingon Duras sisters, Lursa & B'Etor

lbSG-971x391.jpg

Really well made figures, except for the accessory weapons that look like they were made for Barbies :lol

Here they are (all of them :lol), with sharpened knives and disruptors in Klingon colours :D

Great space fillers (all of them :lol) that fit in (tightly :lol) to the deco nicely.

I agree - some parts of those two are looking "girly" enough...:D :angel

Indeed. I think Playmates did a really good 'job' with these :lol

A well known Star Trek picture prop is the one from Worf and Jadzia's Klingon wedding on Deep Space Nine.

I had this on display already .......

frdb4-831x595.jpg

..... but felt it could be a tad better :)

The actual prop picture as seen in several episodes on DS9 in Worf and Jadzia's quarters, was in a frame.

I assume it was custom made (?) as I have, over the years, always kept an eye out for one with no luck.

frameSGcomb-967x396.jpg

Gave up looking for a ready made one and got to 'work' :lol

For the picture itself, I cut out a 'frame' from a leftover sheet I had from my Demolition Man "3 seashells" :lol build.

I stuck those onto a cardboard, which was from the hard backing of an envelope in which I had gotten lord only remembers.

frb1-827x558.jpg

I remembered I had these in the garage, from the kids' many moons gone by days. So I 'activated' a few of them.

frb2-822x499.jpg

Emptied the liquid contents and cut some wire I had lying around to the same size.

frb3-815x550.jpg

Inserted the wire into the tubes, then bent and cut them to shape to match the size and shape and stuck them together.

frb4-813x549.jpg

Sprayed it with metallic paint, and here it is ready :)

Re: My Prop Replica Collection - New Arrival - Star Trek (Small Project)

That frame is amazing. Your mind and ingenuity always amaze me. What a great solution.

GREAT JOB :thumbsup

Re: My Prop Replica Collection - New Arrival - Stargate (3D)

If like me you are a Stargate nut, (and if not read on anyway because this cool :lol), you will appreciate the frustration I have always felt due to the non-availabilty of model (space) ships manufactured 'officially' like the ones available for Star Trek etc.

Over the past few years there have been several model ships designed for 3D printing, and although some are fantastic, the majority commonly lack the amount of details I would expect from an 'officially' manufactured' kit.

The last time I had a look around, the printing tolerances for clear detail also left, IMO, a great deal to be desired, particularly for the more complex designs.

Therefore, I had almost given up hope to ever have a model of, in my opinion, the best looking Stargate ship on the show : The Goa'uld Ha'Tak, or Mothership ..... which of course, also happens to have a relatively 'complex' design :lol

That is, till I came across one last week.

To be frank, I very much doubted if what I saw as a render could be possible to achieve physically, and, to make matters worse, doing some research of the model, it did not look at all pretty in normal material. It was quite disheartening.

pl3-592x600.jpg

After mulling it over for a couple of days (night & day :lol), I took the risk and bought one in Frosted Ultra Detail.

I was expecting them to get back to me with their "So sorry, you must be bananas, this is unprintable" :lol, and got very worried when the shipping date passed by 2 days.

So I wrote to them and asked what the problem was. They replied that the print was not up to their standards (Shapeways), so they were having another go and it would ship out that day.

At that stage I got very worried, and started to imagine myself shipping it back and asking for a refund :lol

I even told them quite clearly that if it wasn't perfect, I'd be returning it :lol

I got it the next day.

These are screencaps of a Goa'uld Ha'Tak aka Mothership.

hatakSG2-977x561.jpg

hatakSG1-974x561.jpg

And this is the model, designed by 'Speed', printed (whole) by Shapeways, and painted by me in gun metal grey and gold.

Pictures are taken in natural light.

To really appreciate the insane detail, quality and beauty of this ..... I took an insane amount of pics :lol

Take your time viewing them, its worth it :cool

Re: My Prop Replica Collection - New Arrival - Stargate (3D)

Damn, that looks amazing. 3d printing sure is improving fast and the paint job is nicely done as well. any plans to do other SG1 universe models?

Cheers mate :)

There is a Destiny on Shapeways that caught my eye, but I am hesitant due to the fact that the rendering pic is very unclear ...... and my wallet needs time to recover from this one :lol

Here's a video of it on the turntable with the cabinet lights.

Thanks :)

The size is 12 x 5 cms, which indeed makes the detail all the more incredible :wacko.

Haha believe it or not but I know exactly what you mean! First time I experienced it was rather unsettling. You stare at all these tiny details, for such a long, long time. Use all of your focus to not frak it up. That your eyes literally are unable to switch their focus so you essentially become near sighted or in my case even more near sighted. :lol "Work you stupid eyes" :p

I'm sure you could get even more detailed even on that scale. Using an awesome computer and a later cutter. However forget painting it by hand then. Keep up the good work :) It really does look like it's made out of metal.
