My latest weathered Nine Gates replica

I just received my copy of the Nine Gates from Kal. Simply outstanding work of prop art. As good as it gets (unless you have a screen-used original). Thanks!

Nice binding but your text ... shame you don't dig enough ... :facepalm

Thanks for the facepalm. :p

I got the text from Mike Haspil years ago, who generously shared them with me. They're pretty much the same as the ones from his run of books bound by Catherine Malmanche a long time ago.

I know at one time you owned a screen used book and you probably know more about what's actually on those pages than anyone else, but you could have at least given some constructive criticism instead of being condescending.

And yes, this is a HERO book !

Yes, I think it's time to watch this movie again. Isn't there a postcard in the movie of the castle ? Has anyone done the postcard ?

Thanks to the picture of the Hero book that Brigandia36 posted, I was able to quickly make these:

The fonts might not be accurate, neither is the phone number, or the card used, but I'd say its close enough. :)

Thought I'd share pics of a custom version I recently completed. The client wanted a book with both AT and LCF woodcuts in one volume (including all 3 versions of the ninth woodcut) as well as an addendum page to show the correct sequence in which the woodcuts would be deciphered (read from bottom to top). For the cover, I used a beautifully pre-distresed cowskin leather I found, to distinguish it from my regular versions.

Haven't updated this thread in a while so I thought I'd post pics of a recent commission I just completed for a fellow RPFer. This is a custom Nine Gates with the English translation of Dante's Inferno instead of the usual Nine Gates Latin text. There are 34 cantos in Inferno and as per the client's instruction, I split them into 9 chapters in the style of the Nine Gates, with the LCF woodcuts interspersed between them. The pages were printed on 180gsm thick textured ivory art paper and were weathered, sewn and bound with black lambskin leather. The cover is stamped with the regular Nine Gates markings. As per the client's instruction, I left the cover pristine and only aged the page edges to accentuate the book's look. I'm really proud of this book and I hope the client likes it.
