That looks good!

Thanks.

Sole removeal with heat plus acetone.

Be EXTREMELY careful. Acetone is a solvent and it will mess up your splatters if you are not careful.

Lucky this in on the bottom of the inner part.

You can actually hear the acetone hissing as it eats the glue. Heat alone is still safer IMO.

One down. One to go.

Hold that thought. Both done.

And here is a sneak peek of where I am going.

Crap, now I am torn. Blue or clear?

@WizardBTTF have you had any chances of testing your seperate dome el panels?
No I haven't been able to. These arent EL.

And done for now. I had made strap logo parts but I am not happy with them so I have to redo them.

So here is the rest of the shoes.

i agree, I would not pay for that also. Though I would love to know how to remove the parts without cutting the fabric for future reference. If I had to have a guess, maybe heat applied from the inside to warm up the glue between the part your trying to remove and the fabric surface. Less dense from the inside, better heat transference. But that’s just a guess, I’ve not tried it.

I have not tested how much heat is needed yet, but you heat the part you want to remove, not the fabric... unless you want to burn your shoes. The acetone is a solvent, so it can hep break down the glue. It evaporates and from I have seen today, won't stain the fabric. But you do have to be careful with it around paint and this includes the NIKE, MAG and your splatter.

So far so good. I put a set in a friends pair they have been worn maybe 10 times, not a ton...but not broken yet. I feel pretty confident about them though, the stress is taken off of the panels doing them 2 parts. The wiring ect could still be a fail point...but I haven't had any issues with wiring breaking yet or connections.

What I think need to happen is that he changes the colour. When you look at the images, the light off the EL is white in the center and blue on the edges. The actual colour we want is cyan which is half way between green and blue.

A big part of the blue push is the near 400Hz inverters. If you used say 120Hz, the colour would be more close to the proper cyan. So the cheat is to bias green by using green EL. That combined with the high frequency and ultimately the blue push will bring the colour to point. And it will be bright.

So a few years ago I bought what may have been the last 2m of pyramid mat from the supplier. They have never got it back in. So what do you do when you need more but can not buy? You make it.

This is the original Marty vest part of the future jacket before I learned about the light diffuser. I didn't want to just cut this up, so using double sided tape, stuck it down flat to my steel leveling table, made a mold wall and poured in some silicone.

Now I will have as much pyramid mat as I need.

I forgot to mention I also made these up today. They are still curing but are looking pretty good.

These are white 3M reflective tape encapsulated in blue tinted flexible polyurethane.

My white set was not sealed and I had delamination issues when I coated my shoes in the water proofing agent.

This is probably how I should have done my fake sole EL as well. The part will be thinner because it self levels based on surface tension.

And the straps are done. With too much light the logos go white.

1. Build a frame.
2. Pour some silicone.
3. Once cured peel it off.
Now I have a heap of pyramid mat ready to cast out of. All I need now is templates for the other sizes.

cool, where did you get the red rubber? I only could find black.
I painted it with red, car interior vinyl spray paint. The stuff only comes off with acetone. The pyramid mat was originally grey. Of course I can make my casting any colour I want or need.

Best thing to do is take the discounted pair and keep the other as project.

He never offered another pair. Offered $50 lol.

I basically said to just send me the electrics instead. Il keep them as spares

Also: has anyone got the gear to tint my soles? Sea glow is non existent in the uk. Can't seem to find any over here.

If anyone has the parts to do it, I will throw you some cash. Thanks

I used RIT without SeaGlow and I found heating up the dye worked. I think it lasted 6 months before I had to redo them.

Taking these out for their first wear test.

They feel good under foot. The pyramid tread grips really well when it is new.
