I bet this person wants them more to complete the collection than anything to do with them being more accurate than other options for the same prop.

Were any numbers ever released for how many of each Propshop item was produced? Some were probably pretty low.

In many cases the value of a licensed collectible has more to do with things like scarcity than how accurate it is.

In my opinion efx messed up by having the Vader fiberglass helmets be limited runs. Vader helmets could sell well for many years. They limited their ability to keep making sales on a popular product that could have been a big seller year after year.

I work in the casino industry and I see people go through that at table games. There are a lot of people out there that have more money than they know what to do with.

I guess from a certain point of view. There's people out there who treat $10,000 like most people treat $10.

Yes..but in my eyes this people lost the feeling for the moneys value.

Yes..very sad. They could do so much good things with their money.

The Prop Shop prices are pretty much you paying for UK guys making slightly streamlined versions of the props. It's a bit like Rubbertoe Replicas and his Sonic Screwdrivers, they are pretty much what the production gets, with tweaks so they can make them in greater numbers than production would normally buy. But youd pay a pretty penny for them. Eg. The 12th Doctor's Sonic is £750 + 20% VAT in the UK. So getting on for $1050. (Ex VAT).

Anovos is producing props that match the ones from the Propshop quite well.

And for that matter why pay that much for a damn hilt when Roman Props version is pretty much a duplicate of the graflex at a fraction of the cost? Rich people do not use their brains at all. Its not our fault or the companies fault why they go broke. That much for a replica when you can buy screen used items for that cost.

No joke.

In '97 i was at a small casino in vegas a couple blocks off the strip. I was at a $2 blackjack table (kept me entertained a few hours and only lost $10). Guy in jeans and a flannel shirt walks up, puts 500 down on a hand and loses. Then proceeds to put down 500 on three hands. Over the course of 5 minutes loses over 5k. I told him sarcastically if he just wants to give it away, i'll take some and be much happier than the casino. He glared and left :)

It's not 20k, but considering it was 20 years ago, it's not that far off comparatively.

FWIW, the rey saber was like 1500 new. Which was obscene frankly. A real graflex could be had at 700 at the time.

The reason the Vader helmet is unequalled is that it can't be without the studio files. The rest can. PropShop was 'a' professional prop company, but as i recall, were not the one's who made the actual TFA props.

Just got an email from Sideshow offering EFX Stormtrooper and Boba Fett helmets.

I’ve been out of the loop for awhile, but is this the Fett helmet that we’ve been waiting forever for? :)
