mrs.slave1pilot's Black Widow costume (Avengers/Iron Man 2/ and Comic inspired)

mrs.slave1pilot and I watched Avengers when it came out, and we decided that she might like a costume for SDCC this year.
She doesn't play dress-up and this would be her first attempt.
We didn't have much time to prep, so we had to make a few compromises.
She liked aspects of both movie costumes, so we did a mash up.
These were her preferences:
The boots , hair, and overall look from Iron Man 2 ...

The holsters, gloves, patches, and bracers from Avengers.

The sluttiness and shiny catsuit look from the comics

We started researching ,searching, and gathering parts.
And this is what the first test fit looked like:

Please excuse the poor picture quality and messy garage.

We did a little more work on it , and came up with this

Her hair is a bit lighter now, but still darker than Iron Man 2
The catsuit isn't ideal, and doesn't fit her form as well as she'd like. She has lost over 50 lbs recently and really wants to show it off . :lol

She hasn't worn the whole think together yet, and SDCC is tomorrow for us.
So, i'll have to take many more pics over the weekend and post them up.

I'll also be adding a few things I learned while researching & building.

for example...

The movie gloves were custom made
But, I'm sure that wardrobe patterned them after real world found gloves.
and...
the gloves I believe they used were "Alpinestars Stella Tyla" gloves .
The movie gloves on top, mrs.slave1pilot's Alpinestars on the bottom.

Now, please realize that the Alpinestars are discontinued and extremely difficult to get in black. The gloves we finally bought were just under a hundred bucks and I had to go through 6 different sellers who claimed they were in stock, but in reality they didn't actually have them.
and, they are full length gloves so you have to cut the fingers off and dye the logo black .

The Bracers do cover the logo (mostly), but dying it black will help hide the stitching.

that pic was prior to dying the stitching, but it does show the need for dye.

(y)thumbsup:thumbsup

Did you scratch build the belt and bracers? Been considering getting the parts 3D modeled and printed but would prefer to purchase them if they are readily available. Stellar work!

She looks so cool!!

my gf wants to be black widow at our next hero outing, looks like we have some searching to do

You guys nailed it

Great job! My gf is also going for a blend of various Black Widow looks so she's not going for screen accurate.

I really like the wrist bands/cuffs. I"m still trying to work out a design.

Thank you everyone for your compliments.
She really pulled it off well for a 43 year old grandma :lol

All the parts were made by me or my very close friends .
sorry, but We aren't offering any up for sale.
This was a personal project for mrs.slave1pilot, and I called in several favors on this one. So, selling parts wouldn't be right.

I hope you understand.

There are a few members on the forum that did talk about offering their parts, so please check around...

I will help you out with what I can though
The belt holsters were custom made, but some of the parts are available.

The holsters themselves are Blackhawk Serpa CQC fthat fit the Glock 26 (that scarlet carries). make sure that you get black and one right and one left..

The buckles are Austrialpin Cobra Buckles

They aren't cheap by any means, if you can find a supplier.
I can't remember the size.

The Glocks are (of course) Glock 26.
You can get airsoft from 10 bucks to $200, but make sure you get the correct magazines. mrs.slave1pilot has some rubber casts with the extended magazines (incorrect) for Comic con to avoid security issues.
But she also has these

The buckle on the waist belt was custom made in Stainless steel and resin
It's not 100% accurate, but it is top notch and functional.

The shoulder patches are rubber casts from a quick mold of laser cut acrylic shields.
Pay attention, because there are left and right.

The boots and catsuit were bought online and are "close enough" but not accurate, so we won't go into those

The rest of the parts for this costume were scratchbuilt .

Thank you so much for all this information. The suit looks beautiful!

By any chance can you give the dimensions of the belt buckle? I'm trying to make my own and it's not going very well.

Ok I took a census here at my office and everyone agrees that your wife needs to be in the next Avengers movie. Forget whats her name that was playing Blac Widow before.....

Thank you all very much.
It would appear that the costuming bug may have bitten mrs.slave1pilot.
She is questioning what costume from the new Hobbit movie she could do...
