This Y-wing up for auction?

A peculiar specimen. Where did this one come from? The tag says it's from ROTJ. It's all kinds of different from what I have seen here.

Do you have a link to the auction?

I came across it on a Reddit thread...apparently it is the BFI IMAX auction.

Here is another shot that shows other items on display...you can see the y-wing, it seems smaller than the ones that we have been building.

Could be the Bill George Y-wing. I'm not familiar with it's particulars but it did differ from the ILM originals.

That is what I thought too, but comparing it to the other pictures of the Bill George Y-wing, it's not the same...the B.George Y is also 1/24th scale. This one is smaller.

I saw it at on Display at Comic Con. About half the size of the regular SS model. Brandon from Prop Store said it was from someone that worked at ILM on ROTJ. My guess would be that it was a background model that needed to go or be far away from camera. Or as a background model to be shot behind a larger scale foreground one (less likely). So a smaller model would be better for that sort of shot. Maybe for the shots where the Rebel fleet is shooting straight away into hyperspace for the final battle.
