OK, I'm going to stick my head up here (and likely get it lopped off) as I have stayed silent on this issue ever since Carrie passed - but Carrie had changed so much by the time she was filming the new Star Wars movies, due to whatever surgery she had, the Botox or collagen that froze her lips , the changes to her voice and her "Crazy aunt" persona in personal appearances, that I literally cannot reconcile her in my mind to the person we saw in the 70s, 80s or even early 90s. She was unrecognizable to me and functionally equivalent to a completely different actress in the role in TFA. Did not look like Leia, did not sound like Leia, did not act like Leia - especially gone was that twinkle in her eyes that we saw in the original trilogy or even some of the other films she did like Blues Brothers. I am happy for her that she was happy with herself, because that's a good place for a person to be – but I think I would've actually preferred that they left the character out of the film.

I understand aging (hell, I am doing it myself, and poorly) but there was a lot more than that going on with the drastic changes to Carrie, and not just in the physical sense. And while I mourn her passing, it still hasn't sunk into me that the actress I loved from all the films in the 70s and 80s has passed – because the person she was late in life was so – to me – irreconcilably different from that earlier person. It's almost like a different person with the same name died.

Can open, worms everywhere. Apologies in advance.

I get what your saying, it's jarring to see someone age over the course of a lifetime. You're right, she was in some ways a very different person in the end. And yet, still very much the same... high spirited, wicked sense of humor very much intact, and candid from a rough life lived honestly and openly — she pulled no punches, that's for sure. Considering some of the things she dealt with over the years, I'm grateful she was able to come through it and find some kind of stability and peace of mind.

And she definitely seemed to be enjoying herself, her family, the fans, and being part of this SW revival. Personally, I'm glad we got to see her again as the Princess. It may not have been the return to form some hoped for but I thought she added a quiet grace and dignity to TFA.

No apologies needed man, very well said. Thank you.

I dunno... I liked how when she steps off the transport and first sees Solo, she gives him that wry smile as if to say, "you dope... now what have you done?" That felt very Princess Leia-like to me.

I just wish they had given her more to do but hopefully The Last Jedi will rectify that. The Poe-slapping sounds like a good start!

Sounds like the Snoke mystery is going may wait at least until IX...

Well, it's consistent with the OT - bare mentions or glimpses of the Emperor in IV and V, the suddenly he is front and center in VI (which always felt a bit jarring to me, after getting accustomed to Vader as being the ultimate in evil for two films - it basically felt like the Emperor was dragged in so Vader could then be "not the villain" for purposes of the late-developed redemption plot-line in VI).

wow what a beautiful picture of the 2 of them... so very sad....

deltorros character, i wasn't expecting that kind of design. i was figuring more mafia kinda costume. i like it regardless but kinda threw me for a loop there.

I'm really hoping Laura Dern is dressed for some kind of dinner or something. I can't see an Admiral wearing an evening gown. I'm also wondering if that is a Bothan in that scene with all the rich people ("casino" scene?)? The very tall alien. Apparently all the beautiful rich people stayed on Coruscant post ROTS, or this is some backwoods place where these are the beautiful people... :lol
