My Blade Runner collection (NEW: Deckard's sawfish rostrum)

Re: My Blade Runner collection (NEW: Box in K's apartment found!)

I managed to find one of the mysteries boxes seen in the background of K's apartment. A big thanks to Rick Howard for leading me in the right direction :D

Sooo.... can you guess what it is? :devil:devil:devil

Don't know, but it looks like Bakelite (I know, it's not real Bakelite, but it has a vintage look for sure):)

Well, if it's really Bakelite, it's certainly a "color" I haven't seen...ever! Not that I'm saying that I'm a specialist in Bakelite, but having roamed many Antique Markets (Europe/North America) since the tender age of 6, it would be surprising to hear that it's real Bakelite;)

By the size in the K apt picture it looks like a baroque butter container, hahha

"Color"? Red? Brown? Can you be a bit more specific? The company who made it specialized in boxes made of copal, sawdust and pigment. Heat and pressure formed into a plastic like material. They imported the copal (natural tree resin) from Congo. The material resembles bakelite. Which is why they're often sold as bakelite boxes. Therefore an important clue to finding them. Even though it's not the correct material. Sometimes mistakes lead in the right direction ;)

I think its an antique minerva brand chocolate box.

The Minerva is just a logo though. Not the name of the brand ;)

Martougin Bonbons!

So that's a fairly expensive antique to be dressing the set with! Very cool.

Re: My Blade Runner collection (NEW: Box in K's apartment found!)

Bakelite had many colours for sure: mahogany-like, or brown, light brown/ocher and even greenish. Not to mix with celluloid...completely different.

Re: My Blade Runner collection (NEW: K's ashtray!)

After much ado and tough negotiations with the Bulgarian connection I finally managed to secure a REAL ashtray like the one seen in K's apartment....
