yeah, Antifa, notice how they changed the name from the Rebel Alliance to the "resistance" now? if the Empire is so crappy why are people still paying them taxes so they can build capital ships? Movies are relatable if well written, in general Ridley Scott has lots of strong fully integrated female roles, its smoothly integrated, unlike the clumsy farce TLJ is. PC nonsenses is out of control in the movies, Birth of the Dragon is a great movie about Bruce Lee, its well written, but received criticism, first false claims that Phillp Ng the star wasnt Chinese, who cares? his portrayal of Bruce his movement mannerisms and speech are right on, the claims that the white character was useless and added for being white. Poor ratings from critics who focused on the token white guy. Its a great movie, but few will see it. and in the same genre I think that John Saxon was added to Enter the Dragon to make it more "relatable" to some whites, and it shows, he sticks out as an add on but fortunately the story and other actors carry the day

^^^ I dont have a problem with pro-female, but they jumped the shark and made it anti-male, its so mangina pro feminism they only hired dumpy chicks for the new movie

They were called the Resistance in TFA, which was written 2013-2014. Subsequently, TLJ was written between 2014-2015.

This predates the use of the term in the US political lexicon, as well as the re-emergence of the term "antifa" to describe a loose grouping of fringe activists, both of which are tied to the results of the 2016 election.

The adage "if all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail" comes to mind. Chewie not eating the porg is played for a joke. It's not an insidious vegetarian agenda, Luke still kills a giant fish with a spear.

Hmph! I liked Rose, I thought she was cute. And in her younger days, Laura Dern was pretty smoking too. As was Carrie Fisher. Just because there wasn't a slew of blonde, bikini-clad bimbos running around doesn't mean the movie is anti male.

taken alone at face value not eating porgs is a joke but all together it adds up, i also dont get the relatively young age of military officers, its unrealistic compared to reality, but then im supposed to believe an 8-10 y/o anakin skywalker flew into space and destroyed a space station, Iron Eagle is more realistic than that.

'Star Wars: The Last Jedi' Heads Toward Final Global Total Of $1.3+ Billion

We can talk about The Last Jedi coming in below expectations, then, and the reasons it happened without fooling ourselves into thinking it is some sort of failure or signifier of deeper problems. I assure you, while Disney-Lucasfilm surely expected slightly higher numbers, nobody is sulking around headquarters today, and that endless merchandising stream continues to pour larger profit margins into their overflowing pockets.

Despite this, cue the Disney doomsday conspiracies.... [emoji38] (We need a tinfoil hat emoji).
It isn't just the movie's fault for making less than TFA. It was never going to make as much. There wasn't ten years between this one the last one.

Poe is a foolish guy who gets bitch slapped by some old woman, Ren is a childish immature punk, Luke is an old fool and a coward, Finn is a coward. Leia has Mary Poppins space powers, Rose is brave and smart and an animal lover, Holdo is self sacrficing, Leia is a great military leader (more like Hitler than john Conner, I think) The force likes Rey more than anyone. Phasma is the greatest stormtrooper of all time

I'd agree with most of that, except that I'd peg Poe as more short sighted than foolish and Phasma sucks as a character.

Also, did you seriously just compare Leia to Hitler. :behave

Never mind.

What you did was pretty much 100% rude. Considering that when you made the first meme, I made a friendly joke back about you being JJ. Basically offering an olive branch that you slapped back at me by posting another rude meme.

You're the troll, Kiddo.

I stand by what I said in the original post 100%, I opted to edit it because Im trying to stop this endless circle. The tinfoil comment precede any reply to you. The conspiracy theories that everyone is in cahoots to defend or somehow make everyone like TLJ is asinine. As as far as rude, check your posts and all the other consistent trolling - just like you’ve managed to continue with your reply to an obvious attempt to stop some of it.

Again, even though I edited it - I completely stand by my post. You might need to change your tinfoil now.

For those that keep posting about how much money TLJ made and therefore it’s a good film, heroin and drugs are bad but make billions as well I could list a whole slew of things that are bad and dumb but make billions because of dumb founded people who buy them and think they’re good. Its all about what people like.

What is it that's adding up for you to say that TLJ actually has a deliberate vegetarian message? I really do not understand this criticism at all.

Well I'm a white male feminist socialist and I detested the political messages in this film, heavy handed, ultimately empty and have no place in Star Wars.
Totally agree with this youtube video.

I mean...how far do we want to go down this rabbit hole? Personally, I'm not sure what you're referring to when you talk about "heavy handed," and "political" messages.

As far as the video....well, she has thoughts. Some I agree with, others I don't. I think it's important to contextualize that her operational definition of feminism here is fairly narrow (feminism, like any academic field, has a diverse range of opinions. This creator seems to have chosen a definition with the lowest common denominator in simply stating "gender equality." This is not to invalidate her argument per se, only to point out that we shouldn't take her position as definitively representative of "feminism" at large).

It all boils down to unrealistic "SW" story telling. Weird dialog. Humor, that reminds me of Indiana Jones. Powers that are achieved beyond practical training (as we have grown to know).

And not to sound prejudice...

but...Why do all the men have the "less serious" dialog or the "humor" dialog or always seem to have to be rescued (physically or emotionally) by the opposite sex. And the women are powerful, heroic, and seem to be the higher, smarter, unbeatable and saviors?

I can see how some, men and women can sense this (even my wife questioned). Man or woman, doesn't matter. But it seems pushed.

If y'all spent half as much time examining gender roles from the female perspective as some of you folks are doing with the men, you might have a better appreciation of the feminist perspective when it comes to media.
