1:1 Millennium Falcon Cockpit Replica - Group Build

That eighth picture down (of the "silver box" in it's place along side everything else illustrates very well my compliments to your attention to detail and efforts to go "all out". All the laser cutting, engraving, filling, sanding, and adjustments made to that ONE LITTLE piece, and to someone who wasn't watching this thread it would be lost among every other detail in it's area. Heck, almost the entire last update was about that one piece... You never cease to amaze Sofa!

Hey ST,

Again, thank you for the continued kind words. The "Cockpit Entrance" was one of those elements of the overall project that started as simply copying the TFA entrance. Nearing completion I just didn't think it fit well enough for the ESB version so I decided to have fun! Lots of fun! That fun included creating all those little details that I have enjoyed looking for when scanning through all the "behind the scenes" and screen grabs from the OT.

The idea of the greeblie getting "lost" is exactly what I want (to some degree). I've tried to make each panel and greeblie appear to have a purpose and/or a "real world" application - regardless of what that application actually is or might be - leave that to the viewer. Hope that made sense? ;)

"Taste the meat, not the heat."

Love the corridor pic. That's the bees knees. It was neat seeing pics of progress in the cockpit itself. We haven't been in there for a while (Nav seats notwithstanding, of course).

Not sure of the durability of your new floor coverings. Maybe a nice Seventies vibe with some deep shag in Avocado and Spanish Gold.

LOL! I was thinking shag... but then thought about a groovy looking clear acrylic lava lamp floor? ;)

Ahhhh I sooooo love my weekly fix of falcon porn you make my week complete
truly stunning work as always

LOL! Thanks, B. I feel kinda dirty right now. Happy... but dirty! ;)

I love the idea of webisodes. SK, in action!

I just hope it isn't like the first time you see a picture of your favorite radio DJ: "Well, that just doesn't go together at all."

I'm so happy for all the recent progress...and because we don't have a trailer for the Solo movie, I come check up on your build pages!! LOL.

I can't believe that you are still wanting to do another build... you've spent so much time on this one!!!! Oh well....

I'm preparing to do a build soon... Not SW related.. but today I've took out my Grid paper pad... and a few measurements I took in a note book in 2011 and pic with my measuring tape on the prop and I want to replicate. I'm starting to sort out the plans... yeah I'm old school... I don't have a application for my computer to do architectural plans...

I'm giving myself a 36 moths windows to create this project..

Anyway enough about me,,,, can't wait for the next update!!!

Cheers,

Éric

Can't wait to see this one when its released!...... :D

Hey E,

Thanks much! I'm really surprised we dont have a trailer as well. I thought for sure we'd at least have a teaser by now?

The plan has always been to do a second cockpit. The current cockpit is a buffet of so many versions, changes, updates, etc. To be honest, I'm tried of looking at it! I'm really looking forward to building a cockpit that has been cut using the CNC and laser cutter. Having parts fit the first time and not have to rethink how this will fit there or that should go here.

Glad to see you'll be working a new project! Looking forward to seeing what it is. 36 mos? Sounds like something big? :)

Who needs a SOLO movie when we have a SOFA build?

Not exactly the same... I use the same plot devices over and over: Filler, Sanding, Filler, Sanding, etc But hey, if it aint broke! ;)

OK. That. Is. AWESOME!

Print & Frame! ;)

Thanks for your kind words, to be more specific, i give myself 12 moths to do the plans on paper (I'm missing a few measurments), make room in the atelier for this project, and another 24 to build it. I did a similar project in 2001 it took me 30 months of construction , the plans we,re done 3 years earlier.. This time it,s gonna be faster since it'll be a reproduction of the prop. The first one was 56" by 36" by 56" high... before being on the supports... I know i don't tell a lot of details, it's not the right place to talk about it!!!
Thanks for your reading.
E.

Hi Gang,

I believe a fellow RPFer is trying to send me an email. Could you please send me a PM and not use the email option through the RPF? The settings will not allow me to respond.

Thanks! :)

Hi Gang,

It's been too long since our last update! Hang on gang... this might be the best update yet!

First, a HUGE THANK YOU to fellow RPFer Izzy for both modeling and 3D printing these Nav Chair parts! :)

Granted they are NOT 100% screen accurate as we have NO IDEA what the original designers actually did to what we believe were Huntmaster racing seats. But they sure look AWESOME! :)

So bitchin'!

So, is there actually light at the end of a very long tunnel? Chairs upholstered, check. Nav chairs nearly complete, check. Volvo panels... uh oh.

Are you planning on completing this cockpit before starting 2.0? You've got to give us closure before going on to the next plateau. It's been way too long to stop now.
