1:1 Millennium Falcon Cockpit Replica - Group Build

It's all looking very good Sofa...I don't know how you do it, day in, day out.:cool! You're many people's inspiration, including mine!!

Hi Gang,

Jake, who has been doing a lot of the wiring lately, sent these images of the lower Maint Console! Enjoy

There was concern about leaving the socket cups open from the back to allow bleed through - I think it looks awesome! I love being able to see the wires

THANKS, JAKE!

More to follow!

Hey J,

Thanks!!! I don't know how I do it either. I am wiped out and can feel the wall getting closer and closer.

But I do appreciate the kind words. You guys help me move forward. :)

Seeing those last couple pictures got me thinking... Any estimates as to how much wire this ol girl has eaten up? All these lights and everything else, I'm betting copper cost is right up there with all the mdf and plywood...

Inspiration? He's my juxtaposition.

OK... That one made my head hurt... A lot! ;)

That Coughtrie Lamp looks AMAZING sir! And the droid sockets . . . what else can be said.

Thanks, Fuzz! It's amazing what simple illumination can bring to a static display.

Hey ST,

I think the wiring, minus LEDs, Arduinos and switches, has been the least expensive material so far. I might be wrong... ;)

The lighted sockets are just killer! It really shows off the depth of this build and the level of hidden details! Awesome!

Hey P,

Thanks so much! It really is amazing how simple illumination can bring so much life to a static display. One flashing LED changes everything.

Kudos to Jake for his continued efforts! :)

Hi Gang,

Jeeez... its about time I posted this "Weekend's Update"! ;)

Jake continued his work on the wiring

In place - they will add a little but more support for the new panel

Lots of glue!

Have to design and laser cut the lower panel

I like the contrast between the panel and the plate
20180408_100812_zpsh5yvyqwf.jpg

I painted the plates a dark silver

This is probably one of the more weird greeblies in the cockpit. Most everything can be explained away.... but this guy is so odd! ;)

Still cool looking

And this is where we are!

Gang... I have to admit I have been emotionally and physically exhausted these last few months. I'm really trying to get back into my regular groove and attack the project with the same level of enthusiasm and "Gung Ho" spirit you've been so accustomed to... Bare with me! :)

More to follow so stay tuned...

Sorry to hear about you being down lately. Pulling for you!

At the risk of annoying anyone who might disagree... have you ever thought of splitting up your posts? You have so many photos after the weekend, that you could easily break it up over multiple days. That would also let people focus on a specific part of your work and comment on it before you posted about another bit. Maybe a Mon/Wed/Fri. schedule? Alternating days to let people comment and 2 days off for the weekend when you're busy doing the work? Just a thought.

Where do you live because I REALLY want to see this in person when it's done! Amazing work! I am supremely impressed!

Hey Lt W,

Thanks so much! Its just been a bunch of little things piling up. We all deal with life's ability to knock us around a bit. I'm just hoping for some calmer waters.

Spreading out the posts makes a LOT of sense! Depending how each weekend goes I'll post a little hear and there. Great idea!

MANY THANKS for all your hard work and updates! KEEP GOING! WE LOVE THIS BUILD!!!!! :D

SofaKing, when are you targeting being finished with this Set you are building?

Do you have any plans to try to take it to shows like Star Wars Celebration or Comicons? If not you should consider it! If there is a way to build it so that you can pick it up and put it on a flatbed and transport it that would be amazing! people would flip at those shows to see this!

Hey SC77,

I've learned not to have a target date for when its finished. I've set too many "Finish Dates" only to see them come and go and that can get really frustrating. The whole point of this build was/is to have fun and build something for everybody to enjoy both from the build side and display side. With that being said, I would like to have it finished before the end of the year. Life has its hurdles and I dont work on it full time so I really can't say. We've been out of the Convention/show circuit for far too long and we are planning to once again show the cockpit and the other associated props. There have been requests for 3 or 4 different shows but unfortunately we just weren't able to make it. However...

We have our first show coming up at the end of May in DC - more on that later as we get closer to the show date.
