Landspeeder full size, 3d printed!

OK some more progress...getting on to the cool stuff now

Started painting the body shell. Finished the tail fin engine and RH engine

And got the topical damage done...the scratch, the side ding and the second most famous dent in Star Wars

In my humble opinion, the Landspeeder is one of the most beautiful cars in all of film history. I wonder if it was even loosely based on an E-type Jag...long nose, 2 seater, RH drive. It would have been one of the coolest cars around in the early seventies...just a thought

Update...more painting. The body is completely finished, painted and weathered

Used latex fluid to mask off all the bare primer areas and then painted with Rustoleum red for the banding pattern and Montana Gold 'make-up' for the main body. Colours are the same as Jason Eaton's scaled Landspeeder, which I think is spot on. Then did a load of weathering with various washes and pigmented powders.

Will tackle the cock-pit next...

Quick update...was waiting on the post from stateside to finish the cockpit...sourced the original 'Ercoupe' aircraft yoke for the steering 'wheel'.

Just needs re-shaping and a central boss added. I think this one is more space age and stylish than the 'wheel' one they also used

Also got the back panels done

The WW2 VHF radio parts used on the original were modelled and resin printed

And the dent is finished too...I don't know where Luke gets his repairs done, but they do a really crap job :D

Wow, just wow. Blown away by the fact you are making this on a printer.

Thanks for all the positive comments...I am lovin' this build so much

Got the cockpit finished

It seems to me that, although this is the way the steeing yoke is always seen in still pics it would be impossible to drive in this position...there is no room to turn without hitting the gear stick and the dashboard panel edge. But, whenever Luke, or anyone else, is seen driving the Landspeeder, they have an actual steering wheel, or use this one, the other way up

Next up...the grills

Okay...it's nearing the end now

Got the grills done...quite awkward to do. Didn't want them too smart and new looking. Tend to find that the windshield and the grills on other builds are way more perfect than the rest of the speeder. Ideally, I think they should look a bit gnarly and warped with loads of Tatooine sand in them

Also finished and weathered the seats and headrest

So apart from the little scanner on the bonnet and the windshield, that's everything

I've really enjoyed following this build. Thanks for sharing. It's been a real treat!
