Show off your Borderlands props!

InvaderZahn Thanks for mentioning that, I was gonna post that but you got to it first. It looks pretty neat but the price and weight is far too high, even if you have money to burn. For the price they're selling it at, it better have electronics built in at the very least.

@drjag yeah it is listed as having "working LED effects" what exactly that means is anyone's guess. also 20Lbs is alot to be lugging around for any length of time

@Gombabomb agreed, it is infinitely more impressive to see something take shape over time from little more than some sheets of MDF and love.

Anyway all your guys stuff is amazing!

Thank you, we are all doing what we love!

Here's some bits and pieces I've made over the last few years:

Very nice!

@smoothrat Is everything EVA and PVC for the most part? Do the grenades have lights or is that just paint? Are you going to post any photos of your costumes too? Those rockets are great.

Yep, all EVA and PVC (including the rocket packs.) The grenade lights are just painted on.

Here's a couple of the finished Boom and his brother Bewm:

Edited this photo of us into a boss screen. :)

I'm curious as to what sort of price you guys would feel is more appropriate for the replica Bad Touch?
To commission that from a prop builder (myself for example) you'd be looking at a hell of a lot more than that.

I personally like the idea of a weighty prop. It gives it more realism. 20 lbs is a little over the top though, I must admit.

EDIT: I just looked at the exchange rate and perhaps it is a little expensive. Somewhere closer to 450 - 475 USD seems a little more appropriate for a mass produced replica.
Still interested in what you guys think is a good price though, out of curiosity.

@Scapey Awesome stuff you've made there! I remember the Tiny Tina's Tea pot pistol build from your thread quite some time ago.

@smoothrat Thanks for adding the cosplay duo as well; Boom Bewm are an awesome combo.

@DtailedREPLICAS Thank you for sharing your opinion. I agree with your price range, somewhere around the $450 range is more reasonable. It's a shame they can't sell them cheaper but if they did, the quality would be sacrificed. I feel that if they produced more than a "limited" quantity, the overall price could be lowered since the amount of orders being placed will out-weigh the production costs.

@Sinned Thanks for sharing your masks and Tina Tina props. I really like the leather vault symbol patch; I'm interested in trying some basic leather work myself. Is the leather patch for the Psycho mask straps?

drjag yes, exactly that. :) I've also done a few of the same shape, but larger size, for body straps (e.g. holsters, etc.)

@drjag Its a delicate balance between justifying the price with exclusivity and producing enough pieces to justify everything associated with manufacture. Never an easy task.
But I agree, it'd be nicer if a larger number of people could enjoy this particular replica, both by making it more affordable and producing a larger quantity.

Luckily though we can just make our own!

There's some great stuff on display here by the way. Keep it coming!

Yesss! a thread dedicated to Borderlands!
I've made a couple of Borderlands 2 props, some, like the Maliwan are still work in progress.

That's the first version of the Hellfire i did a year ago. recently i started nitpicking it and realized that i'm totally not ok with result and started a makeover.. IMG_20140823_203611.jpg

I also did Krieg's mask which is a resin cast and the Buzzaxe out of MDF
(heavy as heck.. and i kinda like it that way, feels realistic but not so convention friendly to be honest).
you can find more props and wip pictures on my facebook page:

amir alon Lovin' the Maliwan Hellfire! I remember seeing your first Hellfire quite a long time ago, it's one of the reasons why I started my own Hellfire!

The Krieg buzzaxe and mask is pretty awesome as well; I'm in the beginning stages of sculpting my own in oil based clay.

P.s. Thanks for reviving the thread, it was getting a little cold but you've fired it up! And as always, thanks for sharing.

BRDencklau Those engraved lines look stunning! That must of taken a painstakingly long time to do... So what else needs to be done to the gun? It looks pretty close to completion, minus the paint obviously.

I am missing the upper barrel and the trigger. Also, there is a sharpness and angular nature to the tip of the fore-grip that I feel I am missing. It's the 10% rule: "The last 10% takes longer than any other 10%."

The link below is a demo from last year's Maliwan with all the electronics inside basically it's a motor i took out of an electronic Nerf gun for the spinning mag and the trigger is the switch.
there is an additional switch that turn on the LED lights, the new version won't have those features it's mainly a display prop so i prefer quality and a detailed build over functionality in this case.
