Hi Gang!
You know what time it is?
Continued work on the pads!
Added a few more highlights / dark wash
I love how this combo turned out!
Added a bit more detail! I love how this pad tuned out. Unfortunately...
More pads getting prepped for paint
These two pads were hiding behind one of the Nav Chairs! :facepalm
Color!
Whew...
I love the look of this pad - all the little cracks and divots make it pop. I might repaint it. For some reason the color wash is not consistent - but then again it does add character!
Lots and lots of detail work. I found using sandpaper is a really good way to bring out natural highlights.
Two pads temp in place
I then worked on the cockpit entrance side pads. We CNC'd these pads a while back. It was nice to finally get to them
Podge and shop towels
As I mentioned, I love how this pad turned out. Unfortunately, the pad doesn't fit!
In all my excitement, I measured wrong and now there is a little bit of overhang! This is Chewie's side. UGH
Han's side looking in!
Marked the line and took the pad over to the band saw. I really didn't want to cut this part of the pad but it was the only way to be sure I got an accurate angle
Reduced the interior sides with the table saw
Routed and sanded the edges
Recovered with Podge and Towels
The center piece had to be cut as well
Perfect!
I then repainted
Continued with the detail work
The cockpit entrance side pads still had to be put together
I had to remove a certain amount of material so the pads can rest flush against the panel(s)
These pads are not as deep as the cockpit side but I still had to notch two edges
Mark the sides to cut
Rip across the table saw
Hand cut the rest - foam is really tough to cut through!
Add some filler pieces to extend the length (the door frame angles changed shape a long way back)
Fill the gaps with Podge
Let the Podge dry and then eventually cover (this week)
Jake stopped by to continue his wiring adventures
Illumination!
LED strip
Neat!
Not to get into too much detail as to "why" (more later) but we married up the console and seats for the VERY first time in a LONG while! Enjoy
And this is where we are!
A HUGE Thank You to Jake for his continued efforts!
LOTS MORE to Follow! Stay Tuned!
