Taking a break from Dolores to come back to Hector and make his Mare's Leg! I'll be filming this process as well.

Still progressing on our costumes, but I have 3 extra platinum plated brass buckles now (since they sent the wrong ones first), and the coating can be removed with acid or sanding it back down to the brass. So if anyone wants a cheaper one stateside, so you don't have to order 3 from England, I have them listed in my StoreEnvy, along with the spare yardage of the screen accurate corset coutil: http://celticruinsdesigns.storenvy.com/

What a premiere last night huh??

I'm fairly close to being done with Dolores and Hector! I have to make some boot spats for Hector (I hate to have to cover up the really nice black leather cowboy boots we purchased, but ah well...)

I did a Dolores test fitting and wig/makeup test as well as a latex scar test on my bf.

For the Dolores wig I was not satisfied with the dark root blonde wigs on the market, so I decided to dye the roots of a wig I picked up off Ebay. I filmed the process and that video will be up on my Youtube channel on Friday.

The first 3 photos are of the wig before I dyed the roots and hot water-curled the ends. I also took hair out of the lace front along the sides for a more realistic hairline.

All I have to do is move over the hook and eye on my skirt to cinch it a little more, iron a few more spots and Dolores is done!
And also put my pouch on the right side

...whoops!
I ordered new grey-blue contacts for myself, and the spurs for Hector are en-route. Which is good as I finished the boot spats yesterday and can't wait to take completion shots for that costume!
We've set up an amazing photoshoot(s) for the end of next month...so stay tuned for those! I'm not saying anything else on the matter...just be on the look out because we are SUPER excited about it.

Hector is now complete save for some bullets for the ammo belt that I need to modify.

I also purchased new contacts for Dolores and had to try everything on for full effect.

I was able to get screen accurate lace for the chemise as well, as I plan on doing Wyatt for Dragon-Con, so I'm currently changing that out.

Does anyone have any leads for the bottom skirt fabric for Clementine? It looks like a scallop lace print on a teal background but I can't seem to find it, the closest thing I can find is this lace to layer over a teal fabric, but it looks like the fabric is a print (satine?), not layered lace.

The background appears to be black, where the print is teal on top.

You could get fairly close with a damask.

Many of the fabrics on the show were 3D printed to emulate the period, as they ran out of actual vintage fabric to use for certain characters. A few of the Clementine's I've seen have resorted to Spoonflower and recreated the patterns in photoshop. It's definitely an option if you're not satisfied with the fabric options out there.

I'd also suggest if you want to go with the lace over a background fabric, finding a white lace you can dye to this hue of blue-green and layer it over a black satin fabric to have the same effect.

IMG_0844.jpgGot my hat from Baron today! It's beautiful, very stiff and a good weight. The only problem is I ordered it a little small. Fortunately, Baron's customer service is excellent and they said I could send it back to resize it. It also looks like they did a little accurization. The pinch is much more subtle than the photos on their site. The only thing I can see wrong is the sides should have a little more swoop. I'm sure if I ask them to reshape that a little, they will be able to. Couldn't recommend more, if you have the money.

I got a leather shop to work with me on a custom bandolier and to finish my belt to match. Not 100% accurate but I'm pleased with it. And they at least didn't say out loud that I'm crazy, so I'll take It!Thanks

We have a pretty big photoshoot coming up soon, so I figured I needed to quickly create a few props...so I'm going to be working on making/printing these this week!

So my boyfriend and I just came back from an unbelievably epic trip out west! We went from Nevada to Arizona, to Utah and California...and we had to bring out costumes to stop at a few of the filming locations!

We made it a point to go to Monument Valley, Castle Valley and Paramount Ranch!
