My Star Lord Build.

Still a work in progress...and not progress shots because I suck at remembering to take any progress shots as I build.

I still need to redo the pants and the holster padding to be brown leather ( major oversight on my part) I tried to get as accurate as I was able to with my skill set. Any feedback or suggestion are welcome!

Quick Question: I have SoloRoboto's Helmet and I am struggling to figure out what lights to get. I know nothing about LEDs or lighting. I have searched the forums and found a lot of good info...I am just having trouble making heads or tails of it. Will a lighting kit fit the helmet without having to cut the Eye Ports? Am I better off purchasing LEDs to mount inside now that the helmet is painted? Any suggestions would be great!

Risu makes a lighting kit that many people use.

Decided to redo my pants. I found a new base pants that looks fairly accurate in fabric....they are a coat twill. Need obvious additions and subtractions. Let me know what you think about these pants as a starting point. pants.jpg

You might consider getting some Skechers Diameter shoes. It's the shoe they built the boot from.

A pair costs $40 or so since they are often on sale. There are "diamonds" that run around the perimeter of the shoe sole. Some models have dark-tan diamonds on a black sole. Avoid those, you want black diamonds on black sole. They also come in wide widths.

Personally I wouldn't go with a coated twill. Too shiny and not the right look. Plus all those zippers throw everything off

What would you suggest?

The zippers would be removed, the riding patch and pinstripe panels would be added. I am currently dyeing the holster pads. I was thinking that with a bleach/water solution, sandpaper and a heat gun would help distress the fabric. Thoughts?

My shoes arrived today so I got to work on cutting the templates for the boots-backs and got the leather cut to shape for both the contours of my calf and the soles.

Here are my pants...hand sewn. I won't win Project Runway and I know they are still not nearly accurate enough. The gap in between the belt and holsters has been mitigate thanks to some rare earth magnets helping keep the belt and pants in sitting in the right place. I am not completely happy with the shape of the riding patch..but I did what I could do; maybe I will redo it at some point in the future.

Just thought I'd through out some pictures from Harrisburg Comic Con!

Currently working on rebuilding my boots. I have the soles ripped off and new leather inner soles cut.

I hope some one can give me some pointers. I have Risu's lighting kit and was curious if anyone has installed them in a MrRoboto helmet. My helmet is already painted and was brainstorming how to install them into the helmet. Any help is much appreciated.

Just finished the install of my new lights and lenses. This is one of Risu's kits, which I highly recommend. Big thanks to Mr.Roboto for sending me an install tutorial video he had done...helped immensely. I had to modify the install a bit due to a few issues, but overall an easy process. Love to know what you all think!

Did those buttons come with Risu's kit? They are much larger than I would have expected.

My current lenses, not from Risu, has one of these coin-battery holders with a button. I'm hoping I can use something similar if I ever get a Risu kit.

I really like those battery holders. The Risu kit does not come with buttons. They are huge buttons, I will admit. The lens installation was a rush job and they were the smallest buttons I could find at Radio Shack in less than 20 mins. Personally, the buttons do not interfere with how my face sits in the helmet. I utilized two 12 volt batteries that are tucked into the tubes of the mask. The buttons are hidden from view when the back plate of the mask is in place but are still easily accessible. I would rather a smaller switch and will likely change them out in the future.
I highly recommend the Risu kit!

If I can ever find a high quality helmet that will fit my head I will definitely be getting a Risu lens kit.

Most of the offerings out there seem to top out at 24 inches, my head is slightly larger.
