The Jaws 1/2 molds of Navarre beach.

A few months back I found an image of a man posing in front of what he describes as jaws 2 molds abandoned on Navarre beach. The date claimed in these pictures is dec 1997. Now correct me if I'm wrong but didn't they use the same molds for both 1 and 2? That would mean that just over 20 years ago the original jaws molds were just sat on a beach. I'd love to learn more about this as this is a direct link to the original Bruce shark and the thought if such an integral link to the original Bruce just lying in the sun is killing me. Here's the link. https://commons.m.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Cast_mold_of_Bruce.jpg

Please help!

Wow, amazing! I'm no expert but I'm sure somewhere I've seen images of the Jaws 2 shark moulds in a workshop with those same steel rings.

Could be wrong but I believe for the second film the shark's body came from the first film's moulds, although the head was redesigned to eliminate the 'jowls' at the corners of the mouth where the jaws pivoted.

I'm no expert too but the look of the mould is very close (to my eye) to the sculpt of Bruce and I am sure gonk you are correct about the "jowls",hope Plasticman will be along shortly to shed some light on the subject, they certainly look like production moulds with all that steel work round them.

Joe Alves says that for Jaws 2 they used the moulds from the first film, (although the shape of the head has been modified).

The original shark's moulds look a bit different from the 'beach moulds' as seen in the documentary below. It may be that the original moulds were revamped with the steel reinforcement added later, or perhaps a cast from the first moulds was coupled with an adapted head to make brand new moulds for the sequel, and that's what we see on the beach? That would tie in with Alves' comment too, as the first moulds would have had some part to play in defining the shape of the shark's body.

Wow glad there's been a response to the post! Thought I was going crazy when I first saw the pic. Glad to have people agreeing with me that at least some original Bruce lineage was abandoned on Navarre beach and left to the elements. Hope plasticfan can shed some more light on this!
