Nu Blaster in da house (SW of course), Jabbas palace guard blaster

As far as i know he never made the planned reveal.

As far as i know it´s a turning knob from a sort of vintage electronic device, but thats all i have heard.

Thanks again for your help with the threaded endpiece. :)
Finally i got a real one, too.

Ah, OK, just wanted to make sure I didn't miss it. No worries about measuring that end piece, glad to help. Congratulations on bagging a real one!

@Lichtbringer Sorry to dig this out of the dustbin, but what did you use for the scope tip?

Sorry for waking up this old thread :lol - but i have some new parts i would like to share.

Some of us were waiting for Dullas scope, but it seems he is still to stressed to have time for any progress. So i´ve spent today some hours in front of my lathe, after checking pics and making size calculations.

And this is the outcome of my try to make my own scope:

The parts

Assembled

And next to the gun, for size comparision

The parts breakdown is made in a way that it could be cast, as maching it is to time consuming if someone would request me to make one.

I think it looks not to bad. :) Feel free to chime in if i missed something.

How do you remove the parts on the front of the barrel? I removed the nut and screw, but that thing is not budging. Also any
chance one of you remember the dimensions for the plate the scope goes on?

Thanks

Once you removed the nut/ screw, the front sight is simply press-fitted onto the barrel.
Get a rubber hammer, a block of wood or something else, that won´t harm the plastic and tap it off.

Can´t access the blaster atm, but the scope mount/ rail should be about 5mm thick afaik. The length can be determined by looking at the VD profile picture.

Sorry for not being of any more help.

Sorry for waking this old zombie back to life but did any of you fine gentlemen finish your dl18?

I've been collecting a few ro72's over the years and made 3d printed scopes etc so I'm about the assemble three blasters at once but would love to see how your blasters turned out!
I haven't tracked down the "missile" greeblie but I assume you guys know which kit it comes from?

Many thanks!

The missiles came from a Revell Phantom F4E 1:32

Well I've finally found an RO72 after all these years, it should show up tomorrow.

I've forgotten everything we've learned about this one, so a quick rundown of needed parts would be much appreciated!

I copy on the missile/bomb from the F4 Phantom kit, and of course the motor/coil part from the V8 kit, what about the side plates? Scratch built?

How about the marker cap? Is it a marker cap? I can't remember!

Scope? Everything else?

I'm betting I'm gonna have to scratch build most of these parts. Does anyone already make any?

I wish the pictures in this thread were still visible!

Re: Nu Blaster in da house (SW of course)

With Petes help i was able to make my version of the threaded endpiece. :cool

Turning some alu to the needed dia:

After parting the ready piece we have this:

Drilling the endcap, first small then the big dia:

You see the rod through the receiver? We need a cutout:

Some sawing and sanding/filing, doesn´t need to be perfect:

It fits. :)

After a treatment with Alu-Black:

But i think i will paint it.
Hey Michael, I'm machining my own end cap, but I can't see these photos anymore.

Can you post some pics of yours, or at least give me some dimensions?

Same for the scope and mount if you don't mind, it sucks that all the photos are gone!

Thanks ahead of time!

Sorry I know it has been mentioned before but what marker cap is used by the bottom front tip of the barrel?

Thanks ins advance.

I believe it is a vintage Eberhard Faber Design marker cap.

I was looking at the old Faber markers on eBay last night, and the caps look similar, I guess you'd have to do some sanding to get it looking right.

I'm building this blaster right now too! Used a pill bottle, Apoxie sculpt, and a threaded connector I made the end cap, and I cut my own sideplates from aluminum. The f-4e kit is the 1:32 or bigger I think.

No idea on the scope or knob/pen cap. People have taken eberhard marker caps and sanded them down for a close look-alike. a tad small though.

In absence of real sourced parts I resorted to model the various pieces myself and have a friend 3d print them. The pen cap is wip still but is going to print soon. This is the "scope", obviously not painted etc.
