ANOVOS issues (ANOVOS ONLY discussion)

The more I read about this, the more I feel I should ask for a refund.
Got carried away with all those Star Wars helmet announcements...
Now I can't help thinking what if they fold?
...
Ugh...

I gave up and asked for a cancellation/refund for the Cassian Andor jacket last week. They emailed me back within a day asking me to confirm my order info. That was Friday, so with it being a holiday weekend I'll have to wait a few more days to see if they get back to me.

I wish I'd just ordered a Magnoli a while ago. :facepalm Going to do that as soon as the refund comes in.

Great. Would love to hear you report back here too. I am sure someone over there at Anovos or at least associated with them reads this thread so it is probably important that they all know we are sharing common experiences with one another, our friends, and anyone we know who USED to be excited about ordering from them. Hey, Anovos - we are all very excited about getting your products - until you decide not to send them. And for reasons that you think need to stay secret LOL - what, are you protecting your "dignity"?! Ha!

It really stinks to hear that you guys are having all this trouble with refunds, especially on pre-orders as no goods have been exchanged. I wonder though what the ratio actually is... is the RPF artificially high... or is this an actual trend? I'm betting based on my research that its higher than normal. However, my experience is most businesses make refunds a hassel. I can only think of a couple exceptions to this though. Either way it stinks and I'm disappointed at Anovos, and sorry for those with the headache.

I've had really good experience with Anovos. Hiccups yes, but they were resolved pretty quickly.

Has anyone here ever requested a Net30 code for their refund request or Net90? An Anovos CS would have to somehow get the code and add it it to the refund request... just curious if anyone has had success. Net30/90 instructs accounts payable that the action must be complete in 30 or 90 days. Also to track email conversations, has any used "receipts" to track that emails have been recieved and opened?... all that would do is track correspondence.

I haven't asked for refunds (yet), so I currently don't have any issues there.
However, like most, I do have issues with pre-ordered merchandise that is continuously delayed. A few months is fine. A year is not. Not for stuff like this.
And when I hear stories like the Cassian Jacket, I start thinking "So, do I really need those helmets? What could I do with all that money instead?" And when I get into that mood, when I start having second thoughts, that's when I read threads like this one to help me find some clarity and perspective.

What will likely happen (in my case) is that I'll let the rest of the calendar year run out without taking any action, and whatever doesn't get shipped in early January I'll ask for a refund. And that'll be my last Anovos chapter.

Nice. As for myself, I am going to wait for this one last major item but I will not order from them again until they go two years without delaying anything at all in their calendar for two years straight. I believe that is fair.

Same here.
If they get back on track with their delivery schedule, I'll return.

Got an Anovos email today that Kylo outfits are definitely bumped to Fall - gonna miss that 3rd Halloween for sure. Wow. For laughs I have a screencap of their Kylo announcement of "Delivery in Spring"

Shocker.
Sorry to hear it.

As much as I would like to get those [pre-ordered] SW helmets, a big part of hopes to get a similar email announcing that they're further delayed. That would be my cue to demand a refund.

I hope you get your helmets without any delay. But what is laughable now is that they have the entire Snowtrooper costume in stock and ready to ship..........MINUS the HELMET!!!!!! WTF?!!! It is just so unfortunate too that the language most appropriate here will get blocked by the site administrators. By the way, any suggestions about what I might do for Halloween?

There's a group of friends that does a big Star Wars thing.

That I can watch.

For the 3rd year.

Did they really put the wrong instructions for the wrong stormtrooper in the box?!

So I got the snowtrooper kit in yesterday. While I did a Facebook live unboxing, I didn't get any pictures yet (my phone died and had to go run errands).

I don't think there's much really to say about it. Seeing as I have handled one of the finished sets already, it's what I expected. It's interesting to see how deep some of the vacuum form pulls are. I don't see any flaws or bad pulls (I wouldn't expect it with industrial formers anyways)

Perhaps I didn't read the listing too carefully, but I was surprised that they included as much as they did. This included all the hardware to assemble it all, to include the dual lock fasteners for the backpack and everything in-between. In addition, this included all the greeblies for the chest plate, down to the light covers. One thing that was interesting was that both the ab disc and Slider knob were unpainted. Why this is surprising is that per my knowledge of the assembly behind the scenes, they were doing a method of casting those pieces with the paint material pre-added into the mold. I was told this caused many many failed castings. Could be wrong but that was 2nd information

In addition, they also included all the strapping material needed for the armor. I'm especially happy it included the wraps for the knee plates. While they're not entirely accurate (suppose to be elastic), what they have instead is a stretchy material much like under-armor, which allows you to remove and wash, which is something I'll be taking and using for my day to day trooping.

So I think the overall thing that surprised me was the lack of build instructions. While I personally have no need for it, I would feel another person with little to no experience of the snowtrooper costume may find themselves befuddled and really unsure about where to begin. Maybe instructions were offered on the anovos site? I'd have to look again. The provided instructions for the original stormtrooper armor kit, as well as for the snowtrooper helmet kit. Oh well.

So I plan to build this into a mannequin display on an accurate size body, build this as accurately as I can, head to toe. I'll augment this with both the backpack and helmet from RS props. Of course I'll be using an original slider knob and one of my original ab disc/thermostats, and original paints. I'll likely take the anovos backpack and make it for trooping purposes. I like the feature of the removable panel for true functionality.

Nocternus, that's because for a decade (since before they got the Star Wars license) I've had good dealings with ANOVS and continue to do so, despite having to wait for some items. I know a lot of the people there. I know they love these properties, are fans, love costuming and research and all of that. I know they are having more issues now than before between more-demanding/micromanaging licensors and a lot more back-and-forth to foreign manufacturing than previously with their Star Trek and BSG stuff. I know they hate missing their projections at least as much as us, and that they're not doing it on purpose and those projections are set based on where they are with stuff before factors they can't control interfere.

As impatient as I am, I know I will get the stuff I ordered eventually, and as soon as they can manage. I don't have a single costume I've hung all my happiness on, or even a single intellectual property. And over the years I've had to learn to work on what I can control, and be patient for what I can't. In the eternal equation of time/cost/quality, remembering you can only ever have any two... I want quality and ANOVOS ticks that box much more than they miss. Their costs are reasonable for the product, helped by their payment plan setup. So I accumulate paints and adhesives and accessories and accurizing elements, work on the things that I'm patterning and sewing, various Black Series items, eBay purchases, scratch-built items, and so on and so on.

I've had good dealings and delays with pretty much every vendor I've bought from over the years -- the delays always because Stuff Happened™. Patience is key. I've always waited and they've always come through. So that's my advice for anyone who buys from anyone. Expect to wait, regardless of what they say, have stuff to work on/distract yourself with in the meantime, and be pleasantly surprised if whatever it is shows up sooner than you expected. I've never had to put it to the test beyond two years. I look at eFX's Scout helmets, which I passed on for several reasons, and wonder if I'd still be hanging in. Tough to answer, because they failed to engage me enough to take the plunge in the first place.

I have seen some folks on here get out of the hobby after years in it for one reason or another. I imagine some concern among people having to wait for product is the fear they won't care any more by the time they get it. Frankly, I can't wrap my head around that. I'm in my 40s now (how that happened, I have no idea). I have loved Star Wars since conscious memory. I have loved Transformers since I was 9. I have loved Star Trek since I was 11 (I didn't dislike it before, but it hadn't "clicked" yet). I have loved Warhammer 40K since I was 16. Comics and anime and video games and such... *shrug* So much of my self-identity is interwoven with all of that, I can't conceive of ever not wanting to be doing this. Part of why I accept waiting is because I plan to do this for the rest of my life.

They have been having these issues since day one go back and read this entire thread

How are you defining day one? First thing I ordered from them was back in '09 and I had no difficulties. Other things I've ordered from them since then I've had no difficulties. The First Order Stormtrooper Standard Line armor kit is the first I've had delays on. Yes, I know a lot of their early Star Wars stuff ran into snags, but they have been getting better, even if there's stuff one would think they'd've sorted out by now.
