Luke TFA Behind the Scenes Lightsaber Community Build Thread

Well since this is a community thread... I've posted this elsewhere but here is mine. I took an approach away from the hero, and went with a V2 as seen in Battlefront.

I've got a logo-less clamp from Roman on the way-- I might use it on here instead of what's currently on it. (That's a Roman repro clamp with Roy's clamp card).
Very cool idea,looks awsome

I know this might be a stupid question, but whats the proper way to get the Tri-Ring onto the saber?
I just broke mine in half on accident trying to put it on. ;-;

id probably attempt the same way Roman does for his D rings

I finally got my paws on one these hilts so I've been scanning for reference material or build threads. But I've ran into a few issues while searching and that is I keep getting results for Rey's / Luke's TFA lightsaber. Since we have names for all the other variations of the ROTJ lightsaber (v2, Yuma, shared stunt,etc) I was wondering if anyone was kicking around giving this lightsaber a name? "Target", "Armory", "Behind the Scenes", "v4" lightsaber?

I don't think there are any other photos for this saber as well as an official or even an official name for this saber yet.

If so, our local lightsaber junkie halliwax would have posted them! Lol

Sorry if this was the wrong spot to post, I just figured it would have the most input.

Id like to get a plaque made for display but maybe I'll wait till we have name for the lightsaber.

yup i have nothing new when it comes to this saber. all we have is that one photo, that one scene. i tend to call it the armory saber, since it was seen in the "behind the armory" bonus footage. "TFA luke saber" gets confused with the graflex in TFA

i am dying to see more of it....

I use chain spreader pliers. I need that tool for my job but you can find them at a hardware store. They open or spread the ring apart and then close to a perfect fit without damaging or scratching. They kind of look like a pair of needle nose pliers but have ridges cut into them on both sides of the blades. Cost is 10 to fifteen dollars

I just bought one of these kits with nothing done to it and I have a few questions. I figured this would be the best place to ask. With TLJ out now and a lot more reference material, what color of paint would you recommend I use for the brownish/copper? Also, should I go with oven cleaner or just a sanding sponge? Basically, what would you guys change/do different (if anything) about how you did your hilts?

Well, if you are making it accurate to TLJ, it appears that you may want to forego the oven cleaner altogether and use an aluminum polish to give the hilt fairly high degree of shine.

i actually never found them locally. i ended up getting nylon tipped pliers at a local craft store, i can open and close them with out worry of scratching

I open A LOT of D-rings and I find the nylon pliers far too smooth. My best solution so far is by wrapping the plier beaks with small pieces of duct tape! That gives it enough friction to bend them easily.
