My lightsabers & blasters thread (Compac Super Scope)

Re: My on going lightsabers & blasters thread (MPP steel shroud vid)

Flat with a bit of polishing is my go to with a lot of Star Wars props. I dont think I've ever used satin. Like thd9791 said, its just too shiny.

Re: My on going lightsabers & blasters thread (MPP steel shroud vid)

Another day another package. Now I need to start working on things again.

Great video - glad you like the barrel! Can't wait until I have the full EE3 to show off.

Thanks again,
Dave

I built a thing, a comlink. It feels like it's been forever, and I made a video of the build (below the pics).

Re: My on going lightsabers & blasters thread (Comlink)

I kicked off my ANH DL-44 build a while back and lost the footage, but I guess I just copied it into the wrong folder and just found it. This is the start of the build where I cut up some of the Reade Model cylinders to make the heat sink grill.

I like the comlink! Did you go with parts off of shapeways?

Re: My on going lightsabers & blasters thread (ANH DL-44 Video)

No, the hovi mic tip is from what I'm understanding is a casting of a real one. The Tomtit engine part is from Reade models, who made the original part that was used for the real prop.

Thanks for the info, I'll have to keep my eye out for some castings.

Re: My on going lightsabers & blasters thread (Falcon Foot Real Prop Video)

Great props! Just found this thread and now I’m totally bummed I missed Roy’s steel MPP shroud run.
Anyone have a spare? :)

Re: My on going lightsabers & blasters thread (Falcon Foot Real Prop Video)

thats awesome! is it solid resin? I know they kit-bashed a lot of space-ship models, but was never sure if the final model was a casting of the glued parts or the original sculpt

Also, this is from the 5 foot model... whoa. used for maybe the landing shots?
