Hi have been doing some screen captures of the movie from an HD source :) I am working on building the Flamethrower guitar first and then the complete outfit. Comment away if you can ID parts and such. I live, I die, I live again!! You will arrive at the gates of Valhalla, shiny and chrome.

Hey I was also looking at making a full doof warrior costume....I believe that the union suit is custom because the buttons stop at the chest and I have extensively tried to find one but have been unable. The chucks have the logo removed and I think the flamethrower handle is a caulk gun push rod. I saw similar horns at a swap meet and asked the guy who said they looked like a brand called "sparton" car horns. I'm still wondering what's covering the headstocks and all the other little doohickies on it....I make guitars by trade so if you need any help don't hesitate to ask. Thanks for the pics I have a few from different angles I'll have to upload.

Great reference images - haven't seen any that high-res of Doof since I saw the movie, and there's a lot more detail going on with that guitar than I remember.

Hey Ein glad to see you here on my thread. Lets work together and get this built :)

easier to see how thin the flame thrower horn is in this pic and that the spark plugs aren't the tuners for the bass or guitar but just mounted on top of the headstock

doof guitar back.jpg
only picture of the back that i could find. It looks like the necks aren't mounted to the bedpan but to a metal plate that comes out and connects to the necks a few inches away from the bedpan.

I was asked by a friend to draw Doof and put him on shirts during the first week of release. He said I was sure to make some money. I did, but it was incredibly hard trying to find images of his face during that first week, especially the guitar. You seem to have found all the best pics I could find. If I find any more, I'll be sure to post them.

I think that there are two guitars that they used for shooting. If you look at the pictures you have the one where he's sleeping and the one where max is coming up behind him. There is a different cog used to mount the horns and the bed pan shows a lil more on the top along with a few other differences. doof guitar back stunt.jpghere is a picture of the back of this one.

no problem i wish it was a lil higher definition though...any ideas on what the 2 meters/.guages are and the thing with the four white buttons/knobs

Looks like a strat and j bass were used for the necks, pick ups, and bridges. The white thing below the bed pan I think is a plastic bike seat (with no cover) cut in half.

I've already started work on the guitar after building a quickie in my Doof Warrior thread here. The piece on the right (w/ the Datsun logo) is likely an old tractor seat cut in half. The horns at the bottom are antique car horns. I can't peg the gauges, but I 3D modeled them:
