Dann's Blaster Projects - (Latest) FM ANH Hero Project from Nov 2022

Thanks guys! It means a lot!

Now to tackle the gears and the swizzle sticks.

I think I'm gonna wait for the pro I've got modeling the parts to finish so I can use the 3d prints.

I do plan to do two of the stirrers, one on each side. It looks like there was another one in this photo...

There IS a stirrer on both sides, coming out of the Phantom part, yes!

Maybe it's just a radial engine part from a different kit? Seems like if this part were used, it'd require some filling in of some of the gaps, and removal of some of the fins among some other modifications, so likely it isn't feasible. Perhaps it really is simply coincidental that they're so similar looking.

Don't doubt yourself yet - lets look into this one :) they reduce diameter at almost the exact same point too, could very well be from another kit.

I think the smaller diameter section of the Tomtit is too long and the larger diameter section is too short. I guess you could butt-up another one at the back of the first one and cut the small part off. So basically you'd need two Tomtit parts to do it.

Thought I'd post a few pics of my Han ANH Hero Blaster. I've had a few over the years, and this one isn't new by any means, but I did make my own grille last night. For the past several years I've had the metal DEC grille on there, but always planned to replace it with the real plastic Tomtit engine cylinder parts. Finally got around to it!

The rest of the blaster is obviously an MGC base, and for years now it's had mostly steel DEC parts (except for the scope). Though recently (couple months ago) I replaced the aluminum DEC scope with a Field Marshall steel scope, along with his mount. Love it!!

Eventually I'd like to pay Field Marshall a visit, since we're only a few hours drive from each other, and have him turn down the MGC barrel and add his new super accurate bull barrel to replace my older DEC slip-on version (which is wonderful, but I prefer Field Marshall's chamfers and the construction method).

Anyway, picture time!

Is the hole placement of DEC's and FM's crossbar identical? Don't want to drill new holes into my real C96 ;)

Why do you prefer Chris' ANH mount...is it that different/ more accurate? Sorry for the dumb questions, but I did not have a chance to compare the mounts of all vendors to the screenused one.

Will you address the rough surface on Chris' mount somehow?!

Yeah, for me at least, the crossbars were interchangeable.

My DEC mount did not have the dovetail, though he had done them before, my version did not have it.

I'm gonna swap my scope cradle assembly with a new one because the front "strut" on mine is slightly misshapen.

I'm honestly not sure if I'm gonna grind the scope mount castings smooth. I did on my DEC, but haven't on the Field Marshall. Honestly, I probably will do that some day.

I'll have to post some updated pics tomorrow, because I re-blued some areas on the MGC, repainted the crossbar and darkened the cone a bit on the flash hider.

*Sigh, this is one of those blasters that's just never done, for me. Every couple of years I have to go messing with it in some way or another!

Over the past few days, when I had a little time, I did a little refinishing to my old Hoth Denix. Reshaped the hammer, rear sight, front magwell hump and went back to the old school stock Denix grips, but added an MGC escutcheon.

I've done a couple coats of aluminum black, need to add some more black paint to the grips, though. I think it looks better than it did before.
