Bengrim's Darth Vader reveal project

Looking at those parts ... and at the real part used on the helmet ... to me it seems the truth lies between the handcut and the lasercut ... as to certain curves you've done :wacko Still great attempts in trying to replicate such and intricate part ... and it swivels too? :)

thanks Chaim but please point out what you see
I've been looking at these for ages, working on them at close proximity and I've gone blind I can't see what I need to see, I'm going to take a step back before I attempt another set as they are time consuming but more imput from other eyes would be greatly appreciated :thumbsup

Well I just noticed it depends which real part from the facemask one uses for reference ... I did see this one first : http://gladus63.free.fr/SW_Paris/pages/Vader_revealed_Paris 025.htm then I noticed the part on the other side http://gladus63.free.fr/SW_Paris/pages/Vader_revealed_Paris 054.htm it's even possible they are not true mirror image and slightly differ between them here's another picture : http://gladus63.free.fr/SW_Paris/pages/Vader_revealed_Paris 093.htm and on the other side you see where the part touches that gear ... it has more of a curve than yours ... I think :wacko I hope these huge close-ups give you even more details :) Eventhough I asume you already use these links for your reference ;)

Chaïm

Ok I've taken another look at them and I see some things / curves I need to alter when I get chance this week I will redraw a couple of alterations and post them for feedback

thanks Chaim for the little nudge in the right direction ( nudges are good from time to time )

i use the pics all the time, I see the slight differences but only slight, and I see my faults, may be it's down to the manufacturer of the original parts and the different times they were made or it's down the to light when Cedric took the pictures all I can do at the moment is alter what I have, make another set ( oh my ) and see how they look :wacko
but im on it and will do my best to get a true representation of the ears ( a real set in hand would be just great to copy off ) open to offers !!!!!

If only we knew what these parts came from in the real world ... some have suggested an old type-writer ... though I'm not quite certain it was ever discovered ... sskunky is your main guy to ask or perhaps kurtyboy :)

I heard they might have been from some old cd rom or disc drive part of the opening drawer or door but there's been that much speculation I don't know what is correct could be chasing round in big circles again !!!!
How many times have these questions been asked but it makes you think ! When the questions stop has the answer been found and kept quiet !!!!!!
or have people just got tired of asking

I gave up the search for typewriter parts. None of the vintage collectors I spoke to recognised them.

Ive gone down the long and winding road of vintage adding machines VERY interesting

http://darthvaderrevealed.yuku.com/topic/362/DynaFlex-Dental-Wire-Tubes#.WNBeHXC1T3A

There's a phone # regarding ordering those Dynaflex Dental tubes and wires post #4 ... since you're going to do a future run of parts could you look into this if they are still available, Ben?

Thanks,

Chaïm

P.S. Seems like @gonk27 is quite the authority in regards to parts and pieces of the Vader Reveal Mask too :)

Its still available

Do you wanna order the dynaflex stuff?

I'm waiting on a reply from the company they are in the USA and postage costs might be high for a small amount I'm checking to see if they have a uk distribution service to keep the costs low
if I can only buy from USA then it will have to be a large order for all the kits and a few extra, so I'm just holding on for a reply I will keep you informed

Thanks for looking into those Dynaflex ... I'm interested as well ... perhaps it's also an idea to use another rpf-member as a middle-man in the U.S.A. to keep the costs for shipping down?

That's a good question for vaderdarth to answer since he finished his a long time ago : http://www.therpf.com/showthread.php?t=69342&page=5&highlight=Darth+Vader+Reveal ...there's 3 pieces in total 2 are about the same size in length about 41 mm :

Perhaps the 3rd Dynaflex tube maybe twice as long?

Indeed ... and you need the same amount of copper wire to go through the coil springs to make them pop ... I just read in vaderdarth's thread I mentioned :) Alas he never replied which size of Dynaflex you need ... apparently there's more than one :wacko
