Hi Gang,
WOW WOW WOW! What an exhausting and exciting 5 days this build has ever seen! As you all know the Premiere of EP VII was this weekend! The Space & Rocket Center was premiering EP VII on an IMAX screen. Unfortunately, we all missed opening day trying to get the cockpit set up. The crowds were insane and amazing! I'm not going to bother with any long winded intros. Enjoy!
Katie and Daniel worked on the door pads
Katie also wore her AWESOME Rey costume and was nice enough to loan and put it on display with several other fan made costumes
The Space & Rocket Center was kind enough to print several large banners for us
Back to load in... we disassembled everything
Loaded it up
And started all over again...
We painted the nose skin
We were up for almost 48 hours straight getting everything put back together and wiring at the same time
Daniel set up a time lapse vid of our adventures (coming soon)
The Standalone Console stood front and center as people walked in to see the project.
Jake finished up the wiring on the new console
Installed this large greeblie
Vertical Gauges were backlit
Lower light bars have new LED strips - uppers will get the same
A lonely front window waits to be mounted in place
What a mess! Jessie painting the floor of the nose cone
Greeblies mounted to the console
Still need to add the rockers and yokes (save that for later)
Light bars turned on and waiting for white acrylic covers
Back wall painted and in place! We decided against mounting the door - not enough time before the big reveal
Upper panel LEDs all wired up and ready to go!
Samantha enjoying the pretty Christmas lights
One more greeblie to add
Beauty shot
Daniel added LEDs to the Allen Bradley Switches - note the exposed wires - I think it looks awesome!
Scott worked the LEDs for the Radar Panel - LOVE IT!
The light bars will also have a dimmer switch to control the brightness
Getting the console ready for final placement
Samantha taking a little down time and enjoying
Daniel and Samantha
Console now in place
Canopy arch in place
Daniel installed numerous outlets to make powering the console easy
Still need to paint this cover black
Getting everything ready
Console and window in place
Wayne brought his R2
Gotta add some seats!
Here is a shot of the cockpit coming from the IMAX theater
Getting the room ready
Door pads added
Seats!
This weekend wasn't like a convention where it was a steady stream of people. We had sudden bursts of people coming in and out before/after the movie. We even had newlyweds get their photos with the project. That was awesome for us. Best wishes to the bride and groom
And yes... we finally did get to see the movie! WOW!!!!!!!!!! Bring on EP VIII!!!!!
Gotta love the IMAX
WHEW... What a weekend. It was chaotic and amazing! Lot's more to follow. I'm going to bed for the next few days!
As always... I want to thank the entire team for their dedication and hard work during these past few weeks. Those last 48 hours were insane, exhausting, fun and worth it! You guys and gals are my heroes and I love ya all! Thank you!
