1:1 Millennium Falcon Cockpit Replica - Group Build

Congratulation to you and your team! It really does take a village to pull off a project of this magnitude. We all as builders know what dedication and long hours it takes to complete the projects we start. May the force truly be with you in the days coming, and enjoy the movie and a long winters nap after.

Hi Gang,

Another quick morning update... I had all my ducks in a row on what needed to be painted, stained, sanded etc... And then we got hit with rain around 5:30/6:00. It really hurt us!

Finished adding the trim to the upper back wall capstone

And then it rained

Not the best looking paint job. I'll go back and add the filler and then sand down smooth after this weekend

This is it... again, the rain really kicked us in the gut and set us back.

A HUGE Thanks to Daniel, John and Cody for their late night efforts and to Jake, CJ and Scott who marched forward at the Rocket Center with wiring!

Next Chapter: The Big Reveal! :)

Hi Gang,

WOW WOW WOW! What an exhausting and exciting 5 days this build has ever seen! As you all know the Premiere of EP VII was this weekend! The Space & Rocket Center was premiering EP VII on an IMAX screen. Unfortunately, we all missed opening day trying to get the cockpit set up. The crowds were insane and amazing! I'm not going to bother with any long winded intros. Enjoy! :)

Katie and Daniel worked on the door pads

This weekend wasn't like a convention where it was a steady stream of people. We had sudden bursts of people coming in and out before/after the movie. We even had newlyweds get their photos with the project. That was awesome for us. Best wishes to the bride and groom

WHEW... What a weekend. It was chaotic and amazing! Lot's more to follow. I'm going to bed for the next few days!

As always... I want to thank the entire team for their dedication and hard work during these past few weeks. Those last 48 hours were insane, exhausting, fun and worth it! You guys and gals are my heroes and I love ya all! Thank you! :)

Wow Sofa...what an insane project:eek:cool My Space Station is nothing compared to the amount of work you and others have put into that cockpit!!!

Hi JJ,

Thanks for the kind words. The Force was DEF with us this weekend. I dont know how, but we pulled off a miracle. :)

So amazing, I think my brain melted!

Hi ECL,

After this weekend I know the feeling. ;)

- - - Updated - - -

In the words of Mike Myers as Dieter on Sprockets... "I'm as happy as a little girl!" Can't wait to see it all set up bro!

Hope we came through!

- - - Updated - - -

good luck Sofa and team. Can't wait to see the setup on display, May the Force be with you guys!

Thanks, Fuzz! :)

While on display at the space center, will they let you keep working on it there, or do you quit until after the display is over?

Hey T,

The SRC has encouraged us to continue work! We're really excited to get back and address the few problems we discovered before the show and to continue marching forward with the exterior skin, window and back wall access panels and greeblies! So much more coming!

- - - Updated - - -

WOW, so looking forward to this. Awaiting with antic…

…pation. Bring it on!!!!

Hi R,

How did we do?

- - - Updated - - -

We've been told we can continue working on it and they encourage it. We have a laundry list of things to complete, however Christmas approaches and our team is breaking huddle until next weekend.

Sorry S,

No break for you! Back to work! ;)

Hey J,

It seems to get more insane as we add more and more. That's the way I prefer it. :)

Wow, mega update!! It really looks beautiful. A genuine work of art.

And I don't want to give any Episode 7 spoilers, but I'm sure I'm not the only one who thought about this thread during a bit of dialogue regarding a certain compressor!

Hey M,

Thanks so much! It was difficult for me to sit back and enjoy the movie. It was filled with so much MF related goodness! And yes, the compressor (which I'm assuming is the canister) is almost done. I was really hoping to have it finished before the premiere. grrrr

- - - Updated - - -

My brain just exploded!

Hey Fuzz,

Between the melting and the exploding... I'll stop posting and updating. ;)

Yes, I had exactly the same thought regarding the compressor :D.

WOW. Outstanding work all you guys. Hope you enjoyed the movie too.

Such dedicated and love gone into this. Thank you all for sharing this stunning build out. Amazing.

Just awesome. Well done again. Love it.

Seeing DV in the entrance way sent shivers down my spine.

The movie was amazing! A lot of people at work have been discussing it... it's been a fun day. :)

Thanks so much for the kind words. As we always do, we took a few moments to stand back and let what we're doing sink in. The good news, we're a LONG way from finished. :)

I had to laugh out loud about your DV comments. Daniel, our resident wiring guru, his initials are DV. I wasn't sure who or what you were talking about. But then it hit me. Vader... ;)

Everytime I see updates regarding this project, it makes me want to build something Star Wars related. Love seeing all the care and attention you've all taken when it comes to the specific details, definitely one of my favourite topics to watch progress.

Quick teaser for what's coming in a future update: we had a local prop builder tackle the yoke handles, he hand sculpted them, mold and cold-cast some real aluminum powder into the resin. Pictures don't do it justice, holding one in your hand is amazing and comfortable!
