BTTF II 2015 Pepsi Bottle Build

BTTF II 2015 Pepsi Bottles - Test Pulls Painted (more pics)

I was able to pull a couple of bottles from the mold. The mold halves were misaligned, so there was a bit more clean up than I would have hoped.

Consider these test bottles. My masking technique needs some improvement, I got overspray from the airbrush, and the bottle surfaces aren't as smooth as I'd like.

All that said, I'm pretty happy with them.

Decided to give a little love to the bottle mold -castings are coming out with a pretty harsh seam. The idea is to create a better lip around the top half of the mold (inverted in the mold box). I'll pull the silicone tomorrow morning and we'll see how my luck holds.

I never was 100% happy with the shape of my bottle. This weekend I made a makeshift lathe (using my cordless drill, a big clamp, and a quick-and-dirty wood stand). It worked surprisingly well.

I'm now in the cleanup phase

A home made lathe. Cool. Possibly dangerous, but cool. I did a similar thing with my Mr. Fushion base on my press drill.

Any updates of finished bottles?

Funny you should ask -finally pulled this project off the shelf.

Cut a notch in the top for the flip lid and put in a stub to start shaping it

Also got to work on the mold box

After I get the flip lid shaped there'll be a lot of priming and sanding, but I hope to get the mold made in a couple of weeks.

I've had a bit of a setback. The silicone stuck to the master and the resulting mold wasn't usable and had to be trashed.

Worse, after cleaning and prepping the master to re-mold I knocked it off my workbench (while working a different project) and damaged it.

So, next step is repairs then another attempt to mold it.

001FAB, thanks for the compliment. If I can get castings I'm happy with I do hope to make them available -look for a for sale thread when the time comes.

Hello!

Just joined the forum and am thoroughly impressed on what I am seeing! Met 9 of the cast at the recent Comic Con in London and just had to branch out by making some props.

I am based in the UK and want to build/paint my own BTTFII Pepsi.

Does anyone have any vac forms I could get?

Any help on this matter would be GREATLY appreciated!!!
