What the hell Happened???

Interesting. This is why I dont post here anymore. People make choices. Choices were made. It got dealt with. Right or wrong. Let it go & get back to building & sharing.

The sad thing is I was a mod on an action figure site, at one point the only one as everyone quit, and the teenagers behaved better than some adults which is saying a lot considering some of the drama you get on those sites. You want to see toxic check out some Transformers figure sites, it's literally every version of the franchise against each other. That said Art's been more than fair to folks, I'd have been handing out temp bans as warnings long ago.

Art is art. Everyone has their own and they are all fantastic. Every piece made on this sight is unique and one of a kind no matter if it is scratch built, cast, a kit or even not entirely accurate. The point is that it's interesting just to see what the individual does with the piece and that's what makes it what it should always be....FUN!

You hit the nail on the head!!! Well said

YES! Lasse mentioned just doing it like the ILM guys did it "this looks cool, put it there", so I can see why someone like Lorne would appreciate that sort of amazing creativity. I know I did. I appreciate the work that goes into scratch building, studio scale, styrene kits, garage kits, you name it. I like doing them all.

There are very few of us left in the world with a love of a hobby like this, so I appreciate you taking the reins Jason and breathing new life into something that could have left a big hole after the exodus. I don't know all the details of what went down, but I was a big fan of work of those who exited, same as those who are still here! Unfortunate that it came to that, but I hope everyone (on all sides) is better off for it.

PS- I have always liked that Y-wing! I am very close to doing the same thing with the Galactic Resin one I have.

Very well said! :thumbsup

Uncivility is a disease in any context (and more prevalent than, let say, 10 years ago). We're competitive animals at heart and some of us get an "orgasmic response" to withholding infos of any kind. They will gladly bring those "secrets" to their graves rather than share them with the community.:behave It's sad, in the end, that some of our former members have that disease. Very hard to get a cure for that one. Jason & others here who want to share everything are the in the right state of mind (as I am also).
We're just doing copies of originals, even done with vintage kits, it's still a copy at the end of the day.
I'm looking forward to scour the SS forum without the Drama with a capital D.

I agree with you, Joe. As many of you know I've been trying to replicate a 1:1 scale version of the Millennium Falcon cockpit from The Empire Strikes Back. When I started the project 4+ years ago I knew I had a LOT of work ahead of me not just with the build itself but with everything involved whether it be construction, learning to wire, working with resins, etc... I had some construction experience but this was insane! It was/has been a daunting task but I was up for it and I'm always willing to share both my successes and failures with the community. More failures as of late! ;)

However, as artists and craftsman there is a point we can't and shouldn't go beyond. Yes, we all feel a certain pride and ownership to our projects especially if we're the first! The 2001 Space Station is an EPIC piece of artwork. :) Every now and then I'll receive an email from a random member (usually new) asking for every single 3D model, CAD file, and or dimensions so they can build their own cockpit. It's quite a bold request! I think it's safe to say that most, if not all of us, would out right refuse that request - in a gentle way of course. The amount of time, energy, material, blood, sweat and tears we've put into our projects doesn't give anybody the right to simply expect us to hand over any and everything we've created. In my opinion, you have to get your hands dirty before expecting any handouts. Does this make us bad people? How many times have we had to point new members in the direction of reading posts, doing searches, etc to help answer their questions?

I really enjoy helping members with their projects. We are a community and that's why we're all here - to learn and have fun. I'm more than ready and willing to walk someone through whatever process they're having difficulties with. But to simply hand anything over so they can avoid the hours/years of work, failures and successes we've put into our project is, in my opinion, wrong. We'll all help someone run the race but we shouldn't be expected to carry anybody to the finish line.

But... I don't know where all this falls in place to what happened here. :)

You want to talk about poking bears etc... The stuck thread in this forum was created so a member could get a grasp on who he owed as he had lost control over all the info over the years. Why? To make things right of course...No excuses, etc. Why and how is this negative? Some couldn't be pleased no matter what. They have been refunded. Steve is an outstanding person. He doesn't want to screw anyone over. He makes a few kits available per year then retires the molds. Some great individuals have come to his aid to cast and mold parts so enthusiasts around the world can own amazing models. Yes NMD is directly associated with licensed company's. This is a positive endeavor. 99.9% of the animosity and hate tossed around here and elsewhere is derived from pure jealousy and hate... The garbage going on in FB is beyond pathetic.

The cancer that was removed from here was done for a reason. That hateful group did it on purpose. They all made a choice to be removed from here. The RPF staff isn't going to put up with any BS. They never have. Good riddance to those that consistently desired strife and drama

. May they all drown in their, negativity, hate, misery, and jealousy elsewhere. :D

Nobody handles Steve correctly if you did he would have banned years ago...
and you would have killed off a good amount of the cancer and greed that
has happened here. The guy has a dedicated sticky......that's not a good thing.
What does the sticky do exactly make people feel better while they hold their
breath? There must be a lot of purple around here......LOL I don't care i know
the deal what goes on here and behind the scenes, I know people royal screwed
who worked hard for this clown. People get fed up and yea that's why they ask to
leave, and then you justify it and say they wanted to leave. No they wanted what
was owed to them for what they worked hard for on their end, what they lived up to
and produced in good faith. The new members don't get it and that's fine they can be lulled
with all the smooth talk and cover up, you have a member here with a dedicated sticky
that spans how many pages? And you have a member here who's dealings with others
relates back to your site because it's a small community. So it's going to be your sites loss
in the SS forum that you loose these or any other members, look at some of the posts here
people know the deal about loosing them. Want to make it better take that sticky down and
put it in the back lot somewhere it's a mockery to what this forum should be, and only proof
of what it has become.

I agree! And they shouldn't have to. We're their guests. We can be escorted out of the building at any time and for any reason. I think some people lose sight of that fact.

If the mods aren't going to put up with any BS then Darkside72's post needs to be deleted or at least heavily redacted. It seemed a couple of days ago talking about the relationship between Steve, EFX, NMD and Disney was enough to get a ban. :confused

This topic had just about run its course. This thread should be locked/deleted as now the flames are just being fanned. There is lots of talk about hate, but it seems to run in both directions.

Sofa, I don't care about material things (I never did) so, if you ask me to give all of my blue-prints, infos, measurements, etc...I'll do it gladly. If you want to make money with my stuff, go right ahead and if you want to claim that my work is actually yours, go my friend, go...:) I never felt ownership of anything I built over the years; heck, most of it has ended up in the garbage, destroyed, given away, etc...I sold a few, but it's rare. I know, personally, what I've created and that's good enough for me.

Steve Neill's Enterprise made me come to this board, he's not here anymore. Guy is gone. Now Julien is gone. Seems as if most of the people who helped me and inspired me had to leave this board. If such an event happens, something REALLY strange has to go on...

I'm sad to find that the people I like(d) here (on both sides) don't get around with each other. And it's sad that the board doesn't manage to keep them stay together.

Agreed, but keep in mind that any community is nothing more than the people who are in it and it is up to those people to act in a mature and responsible manner, pushing one another towards excellence and being willing to forgive when needed and move on. Over-sensitivity, selfishness, childishness and arrogance are cancer to a community and we all have a responsibility, if we care about the community as a whole, to excise those things from within ourselves. Without that self-regulation, we get the unfortunate fracturing you have here.

And on that note, I am closing this thread. Please do not continue this discussion in other threads. Let's get back to building and sharing.
