Jedi Comlinks - Does anybody even care about these anymore?

I really like the one in the top left corner ... since it's the only one not quite screen-accurate ... if you could throw in some greeblies as a kit I'd love to put one together myself, please.

P.S. I just hope this PayPal mess clears up for us Europeans soon ... it's quite a nuisance for several days now not being able to pay for stuff directly :wacko

PayPal mess?

Re: Jedi Comlinks - Does anybody even care about there's anymore?

i need a better computer first. i figure once im done collecting my r2 parts, i will purchase a new laptop. this way i can tweak the electronics for him, and then start trying to play with 3d printing. the rumor is this year 2017 a night course is coming to my local vocational school so im going to try and get into that class. fingers crossed.

if i knew any 3d skills, i'd be drawing this sucker as we speak lol
There are tons of online resources for learning 3D modeling. I'll vouch for Blender. It's might have a steep learning curve, but it's FREE, very powerful, and can do most things the "professional" software can. Head over to Youtube and look up some beginner blender tutorials. I find it really enjoyable.
P.S. If you decide to learn blender, and have any questions Google can't answer, just PM me.

Sorry for the hijack Dann... :ninja

EUREKA! I FOUND IT!!!!

It's a 'Circular Saw Spring Washer, Part #: 623547-002' available at Sears. Thanks for the inspiration to finally figure this one out. I Googled "Convex Washers" which led to "Spring Washers" and it popped right up as a suggested item for sale. Go figure!

Yeah man, maybe we can work something out.

It'll be difficult to decide what greeblies to pack in with it, though.

Also that particular razor is the same on both sides, meaning it's not flat on the back.

That's awesome, I do actually remember that thread, now that I look at it again! I wonder what those top parts are on Qui-Gon's comlink??

Anyway. Here's where I'm at with a couple of these custom rigs...

I'll be painting most everything silver on these, especially the red parts on the back of the one on the right.

And here's an idea for the backside of the third one I'm starting...

PayPal mess?

Yep ... due to some idiot new SEPA regulations between PayPal and the European banks ... there's now no access to pay via PayPal directly from your bancaccoiunt at the moment ... and it seems it's been going on for some time now ... a week ago I had no issues paying ... here's a world map where this and other disturbances are located right now :

Dann as soon as this PP mess clears up we can discuss details via PM, okay? :)

So, here's some progress on the custom versions I'm working on.

The super glue bled into the rubber grip section on one of them and it's bugging the heck outta me. I reckon I'll have to attempt to clean that up.

I think they both need a little cleanup work, maybe some polishing in certain places to bring back some of the original finishes. There's some brass and copper in there that I wasn't sure I wanted to paint over, but I went ahead and did so, anyway.

that last one with all the circle greeblies on top is my favorite :thumbsup

Thanks! Yeah, that's a LOT of circle greeblies! Washers, camera parts, etc.

I've actually just cut some small aluminum tubing to "sheathe" the threads on the brass screw antennae.

Just one. The clear yellow one in the top right of the first photo in the first post.

It has an issue. I didn't use Bondo to fill in the back. I have no idea what I used, maybe epoxy. There's a lot of gaps need filling.

So, it needs some TLC, but it can be salvaged, for sure.

Edit: I'm currently filling the gaps with some Tamiya putty.

I could use a body. Matt Munson used to make some kick ass kits. His kits had a lot of spare parts. I had a lot of props stolen back in 2003 and I was never able to replace it. I might have enough spare parts to make one but I need the main body.

Well, I could either sell you this one, once it's a little better prepped, or, there's several on eBay.

If you don't need the cradle/stand they go for a little over $30, if you want the cradle/stand, expect to pay around $50.

I just looked them up. Hadn't thought to do that until now. Amazing that folks still have these in the package!

I'd probably ask for $50 for this one anyway, for the prep work involved... and I don't have a cradle for it.
