New Luke ESB lightsaber

I grabbed them up not too long ago. My mom used to clean college dorms and apartments years ago, and I needed the extra cash so I decided to help. When I went into one dorm that had been closed down for A/C repairs, I found the old A/C unit lying on the carpet. I asked the repair guy if he needed the red caps on the wire ends, and he said no. He said something about he picked them up from radio shack the day before until he could get some real covers.

i took a bit of sandpaper to the 2X Caplug I already have glued in, and now it looks like yours! looks like the center and edges are the highest points after molding. maybe. :D

WP_20171116_10_38_21_Pro.jpgI noticed that spacer on a closing door, and a spider that must have been seeing spots.

#1 of 2 samples I’ve ordered. #1 is 80% accurate and #2 is moreso, gotta wait till it’s deliverered.

this is a Curtain Track Splicer. Two set screws in the center pinch it against two ends of flexible ceiling curtain rail, presumably in an RV or Camper. I’ll get some dimensions for y’all in a bit. I.think it closely nails the pictures, but there are some problems.

1) this one has to be cut down

2) the top face is a little lacking in surface area. 1mm extra would hide the set screws more.

3) for any thing we find, we have to figure out how it attaches to the Kobold, or how the graflex is attached to the kobold if this doesn’t hold them together. I embedded a screw in the other side of the graflex throug to the kobold for my own concerns and left one of those glass eye rims without its cable until we find out more about this putty filled socket.

4) I think they slipped when drilling the set screw holes, one edge has a few nicks in it.

Sample # 2 looks thicker, and more accurate in my opinion as it doesn’t include a plate like this. Can’t wait till it gets here.

Granted, after some cutting, filling and a sanding sponge, #1 doesn’t look half bad.

Okay so I think this item is 95% there. I decided to go ahead and start drilling, I can always replace this larbel top, pop out the cone knobs and everything..

anyways, here are my attempts at recreating those images, light from above...

#2 came in the mail and it turns out it’s the same thing....only with machined edges and slotted set screws. this got me thinking.. what if that visible screw is not a countersunk screw, but a slotted set screw!

I ended up making the square nut out of the plate I cut off #1. Neat right? It was the exact thickness needed. Drilled and tapped them all at once stuck together!

now ...the included set screws don’t line up with the one we see at the top.. and aren’t long enough to bury themselves into the graflex, so I cut off the ends of some machine screws of the same thread count, and cut slots in them with a dremel.

I decided the exposed screw needed a friend to stay in place, so I drilled the screw we see near the tip and used the existing rear set screw hole and drilled it into the graflex slot..almost haha it doesn’t quite line up.

I drilled and tapped the graflex and kobold after finding the right location using the photos we have... but being set screws means it’s not screwed tight, just roughly set in place, rattling. The slot is so thin even the set scre s can’t come out, they have to be slid along its length to get out, so there’s no way a screw head could get in there anyways...

so so I pulled out some E6000 and mucked up the DIY set screws and screwed everything into place.

the exposed set screw and empty hole bother me. I was thinking of sliding some Mylar tape in there? At the right angles they’re invisible.

Anyway, the bars don’t seem wide enough for my liking but it’s the closest thing I can think of!

Nice tom!! Really getting there!

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

thanks! I sat down with all the parts and realized some things couldn't work and others could. I love that style of building, sometimes you accidentaly replicate the fabrication out of sheer limited choices. like the included set screws that weren't long enough. get longer ones!

Hmm, that looks a bit too big :/

i decided to go at the Kobold knurling with a dremel and some hand files. Not half bad :)

There are regular tapered cap plugs, however there are also these. what if we're looking at a conical one with a flat top, and the base is the washer beneath the steel ring?View attachment 692544
Hi Tom. Thanks for sharing more eye candy recently. May I request you cut one of these twice in the middle so that it can be wedged top in to bottom when tapped down into place within the spacer. To me the red plastic post has a squashed look to it's wall.

Did a little decoration to really nail this one Home. I skipped rubbing the playing off though :) I also used this as an excuse to cover up some of the putty I used in different places (splitting bunny ear tabs, incorrectly drilled hole, etc)
