Disney's Figment

Hello all!

First time posting in this corner of the site and I'm starting this thread a little ways into the build, but I had to be sure I was actually going to get to finish it before I wrote about it!
Special thanks @joez2391 for corresponding with me over his previous attempt at modelling Figment a few years back.

Here is my WIP sculpt of Figment from Disney's Journey Into Imagination attraction at Epcot in WDW. Mostly based from post-Dreamfinder reference material. The aim is to eventually wind up with a resin statue.

His torso is a polystyrene foam egg carved into shape and coated with Plasteline clay. Mostly medium grade. The neck, arms and head are sculpted on a super simple armature wire skeleton, soft grade Plasteline acting as a nice flexible base to prevent cracks while I nail his posture down, details in medium grade, tougher parts like horns in harder grade clay.

Still early days but I'm pretty pleased with it so far! It's great feeling him come to life. Feedback more than welcome, although I will sound like a total novice in response having had no previous experience in creature sculpting and I'm pretty much making it up as I go along!

Wow this is coming along awesome so far! You're capturing the character perfectly, love the idea of him holding a paint brush too!

Thanks Joe, appreciate it! Getting the essence of his personality down has been my priority here, which I've learnt comes down to a LOT of subtle things!
Progress update: Belly and inner mouth detail added, hands refined.

He still needs a lot of smoothing out over the torso and head but I'll deal with that after he's got legs and is resting on a base properly.

Nice! I had a plush Figment as a kid. Completely forgot about him til this thread. Brings back memories.

Plan on doing a run once he's finished?

Been a long time but this project is not dead! Had a lot of issues during mouldmaking and a lot of real life things getting in the way. But I'm finally getting around to pulling the first casts, so until I've got pictures of those, here's some of the final sculpt and the torso mould! Hand, horns, tail and wings will be moulded separately.

Thanks Kovnyn ! Glad to bring back some memories for you. Yes if there is interest I will consider a run.
