"Congo" Amy the gorilla VR ASL glove help!

Hello,
I've decided to quite possibly be the first dumb@ss in history to make a valiant attempt as cosplaying as Dylan Walsh's character from the 1995 "blockbuster", Congo. I'm going to my local con in early Jan as his character, Primatologist Dr. Peter Elliot, with "Amy" the signing gorilla on my back.

I've already procured a 'near' lifesize gorilla plush and now am looking to create the VR glove she wears. I'm hiring someone to make (sew me) the glove but will need to add all the little wires and 'circuit/gizmo' things to it --- which I have no idea on how to go about finding.

Going by the pictures, does anyone have any recommendations/suggestions on what cheap electronics I could go to Goodwill and purchase to cannibalize? Or are there other methods/avenues you'd recommend seeking?

I'd also LOVE to be able to figure a way to have the ability to play sound clips of her talking glove: "Amy, good gorilla", "Amy, want green drop drink", etc from the movie. I am a complete n00b when it comes to such stuff though. :-\

Any ideas or suggestions on how to get the audio clips from the film and be able to save/play them on a device masked in the gorilla's backpack, etc?

Thanks in advance for any and all help,
Michael

Looks like a couple relays and a 9-volt battery, and a small circuit board.

I take it you have the Making Of book? And the movie on DVD or Blu-ray?

Thank you for the insight; I am truly in the dark as to what all these individual components are (other than the 9 volt battery) and am open to any (and ALL) suggestions!!

Yes sir, I do (own the 'making of' book and Blu-ray)! That pic of the glove worn by a human from the 'making of' book is honestly the best/only good, viable, reference pic I could find.

There's a pretty good insert shot of glove in this scene here at 0:09 in:

Thanks,
Michael

I'm no expert, so I can't tell you what kind of electronics to look for, but you can still go by the date (1995 or earlier). I'd grab whatever's big-ish and cheapest.

The 'things' at the knuckles look like wire terminals, but I don't think that's what they are, but it may be close enough for your needs: Ring Terminals

Can't find my Making Of book, but I can take some screencaps if you need.

Sure thing; any help is appreciated! How about the wires? Is there a place I could buy several strands of them from or should I just try to pull them from an existing electronic device, etc? Nothing needs to be 100% screen accurate or anything, just would like to do my best seeking out 'similar' appearing components, etc.

Also --- I imagine Home depot or an Ace Hardware would be a good place to start looking for some of these items?

Thank you again!
Michael

I don't know if a hardware store would carry thinner wire like that; they may only carry the household stuff. They should have the ring terminals, however.

I think a Radio Shack or similar hobbyist electronics store would be a good bet for the wires.

Of course, there's always Amazon, eBay, or similar online places where you might find wire & relays.

Grabbed some screencaps for ya. I'll note that Amy's glove also has a blinking red LED on it.

Phenom! Thank you! Yeah, I totally forgot about that little red LED on the glove. Do they sell battery pack ran *single* LEDs?

Thank you again, my friend.
