Solo: A Star Wars Story

No way. I can't stand that movie and all the fan service BS, esp the last scene that completely ruins the the beginning of a ANH. They need to re-write it now:

"The Imperial Senate will not sit still for this. When they hear you've attacked a diplomatic... " Leia protests

"Bull****!" Injected Vader. "You just left a cruiser that took part in a major attack on an Imperial base and are carrying stolen data. I know so because I personally saw one of your men run inside with the disk in hand, as you were getting ready to leave!"

people love to trot out the ole.. " It was keeping up appearance" because they got thier do over for the Vader "NOOOOOOOOO" scene and not have the last thing with him in the movie be emo and a joke.. but come on, it wasn't like they tracked them down, or lost them and had to catch them again.. they followed them for 10 mins from the ship they just blasted their way out of. I mean, because of that movie and that scene they now know that ship has the plans.. why even bother with boarding it to look for those plans.. Just blast it and chalk it up to the princess being spaced by pirates or something if any one asks.. He's the guy who killed everyone.. even the younglings.. It's the empire. you've got a strangle hold on the galaxy, you probably control the information too. He's all of a sudden going to have issues with spacing a ship full of rebels? I don't know why people give R1 such a pass.

Watch COPS or LivePD. They will often play dumb when they pull someone over and know exactly what they did. They don't let on until they caught the person in a lie. They don't just blow the ship up because they know Leia is on it and they suspect she's a major part of the Rebellion. My only minor problem with Rogue One was that Tantive IV had physical copies of the plan not a transmission. It would have made more sense if the ship just flew into the system, the Profundity beamed the plans to Leia before it was boarded, and then Tantive IV takes off with the Devastator in pursuit.

Vader couldn't kill Leah. He needed the location of the rebel base, probably the other senior leaders of the rebellion and other pro-rebellion senators.
The senate had not been dissolved yet.

Also, the records storage and transmitter had been destroyed in R1 so Vader needed the disk to see the nature of the information and if the design flaw was readily apparent.

What always got me was Leah trying to plead to Tarkin that Alderaan is peaceful...we don't have any weapons.
Even without the final battle in R1... Really?
"Look at what your peaceful ship did to my Star Destroyer. If you don't have any weapons who and what shot all my Stormtroopers?"

I love Star Wars but when you sit down and look at it somethings really fall apart.

And if Han is Ace Ventura delivering for UPS is the Falcon painted brown and he is wearing Brown shorts that will look Blue on screen?

Wow, that's nitpicking bro.

Neither Vader nor the Empire were aware of a design flaw. They didn't pick up on it until the final battle when the rebels kept flying down the trench - they then told tarkin an analysis showed a risk/threat/whatever. However, they would want to see exactly what they got. That's true. They don't know how much got beamed out and how much they were able to receive. There's also no way to know how many copies were out there. So, yeah, they'd want to know what got out. If it was the details of the barracks and commissary, who cares.

I can only imagine how much data the full plans would entail. A place i used to work a good while ago had full plans on a now famous vegas casino. That amount of data for that was staggering. Can't fathom the data for something thousands of times that size.

When leia said alderaan didn't have weapons, pretty much no one assumed that meant no personal weapons, more like planetary type things that would be a threat to the empire. No large scale weapons or military vessels.

Are we sure this is the case? The Tantive IV went into hyperspace at the end of Rogue One. Tracking through hyperspace was still a research project at that point. I think we also have to assume the Empire didn't have a positive ID on the ship, they wouldn't be broadcasting a transponder signal. So Vader has the make and model of the ship, but not the license plates. So when he chases down a ship matching the description after it leaves hyperspace, his evidence is only circumstantial.

yeah, actually ThankYou for saying that, Lightning -because I've been thinking this same thing ever since I first saw Rogue One (and heard some folks making that complaint) ...
and long before there was any sort of reference to hyperspace tracking in the movies, all I kept thinking was "well, yeah Okay: Vader did watch the Tantive IV fly away, but THEN they lost them in hyperspace, so how could they even be sure that was the same corvette?"

anyway, thanks for making the point! :thumbsup

Vader didn't know the specific design flaw but if we include R1 into ANH, Vader did instruct Krennic to check that Erso had not compromised the Death Star.

Yes, I had thought about planetary defense systems but how could anyone see defending against the Death Star.

Guess she was referring to the Ion Cannon at Hoth.

Sorry I’m not trying to be cocky, I’m just honestly curious. I thought for sure we would get some kind of teaser before TLJ

And I haven’t been in this thread much.

I wonder if it will still be released in May or pushed back?

Perhaps the Solo movie is the worlds greatest April Fools joke.

All we need is Han doing the Ha Ha laugh from the Simpsons.

No I think the Solo trailer will be out soon. To avoid confusion I think they’re leaving it until TLJ has been in cinemas for a month or so. January we’ll have it.

There are posters in theaters with the May date, so that’s it.

I don't understand why people keep saying hyper space tracking was still a research project at that time. The Death star tracked the Falcon to Yavin IV and that was only like a day or two later. Obviously, hyper space tracking is readily available at that point.

In Rogue One you see it as one of the projects still in development.

Vader and Stormtroopers were at the door of the Tantive IV as it blasted away in R1. Pretty good bet they threw a tracker on.

Also they no doubt captured and "aggressively" interrogated several Rebelscum on the planned destination of the Tantive IV.

All offscreen of course. Really doesn't need to be spelled out for us.

im alittle late to this party, but vader could track the tantive because its hyperdrive was leaking. that is todays canon explanation

they didnt have the tracking technology in ANH like they did TLJ
