Yes, another BTTF2 nike footwear bag build

Looking really good. I did notice how the lids slide a bit along the length. This is why I came up with the runner system I'll build into mine. It means the lids can't move in that direction and would still work even if an end cap falls off.

Yeah, it’s because the main body tends to warp when trying to move the sliding doors. I have to find a definitive way to mount the nozzles to the main body as in something low profile and sturdy enough

Are the end caps glued on yet?

My lids don't slide because I made a small lip at 90 degrees to the end that is trimmed to fit just between the internal arches that they run on.

Finally time for an update.

Pretty much been spending time tweaking the bag here and there to try to get the bag from buckling up and twisting or the sliding doors coming loose on the end nozzle. I added a strip of styrene at one end of both sliding doors to make the tolerances smaller.

I also added magnets inside the handle so that when it’s closed everything will kinda snap into place where it’s supposed to be and I added a tiny styrene stopper to stop the sliding doors from sliding out of place

Here’s a quick test video showing the functionality of the bag.

I think it’s fully functional now! Now I can start cleaning all the parts up and get everything ready for paint!

Looking good.

That strip can come all the way to the runner. I ended cutting mine back and have a new thing done that does the same job, but also allows me to pop the lids in and out. This means that I can fuse the end caps to the body first, then slide and clip the lids in place.

I'll post some images of how I did this in the official thread.

Just a quick small update to show where it’s at now.

Giving it the ole spot putty treatment of cleaning up the casts and removing any imperfections. So just a few more passes of spot putty and filler then it will be ready for paint.

One challenge is to figure out a way to actually paint these pieces. I’ll have to build each part they’re own dedicated paint stands.

Okay BIG update now!

Finally got around to painting all the pieces and painting the Nike logo and the “FOOTWEAR” letters. I first gave everything a few coats of a matte black. I will later go back and give everything a coat of 2k matte clear

I used a silhouette to cut out the designs out of vinyl. I had to make my own Nike logo as one from google images just wasn’t clean enough. Then onto painting the design.

I’m loving the end results! Tomorrow I’ll give it a coat of 2k matte clear and then when it cures I’ll start glueing and assemble everything!

The Nike bag paint is finished! I’m really happy with the results, it came out beautifully to me at least.

Now all that is left to do is make the inside look pretty. Stay tuned!

Update!

Pretty much been working on the final assembly of the bag meaning painting the inside black, padding out the inside and glueing everything together. To pad the inside I just used some 4mm Eva foam. At first when trying to glue everything together there was a lot of resistance and friction so I brushed some Vaseline in the channel that it runs through to make it much smoother which it does.

UPDATE:

Finally got around to installing the windows in the bag so get ready for some pictures! I cut the windows out of a clear matte cast acrylic but unfortunately I don’t have any pictures to show the process.

But here’s the Nike footwear bag final!
