Educate me on the various 1/72 scale Millennium Falcon kits...

The MPC figures look more like 1/96, possibly 1/87 (HO scale). The Han figure seems to be based on the Joe Johnston sketches which showed helmeted figures in and around the "pirate ship".

Ok, so the MPC is slightly smaller than the Bandai 1/72 one. Again, scale will depend on how big you think the Falcon is in the real world. Going by Bandai's being the benchmark for 1/72, the MPC is no where near 1/58 and is close to, but smaller than 1/72

While figures made for the Bandai 1/72 might be hair on the larger side, I think they can work

Thanks for your efforts with this, mate! It's a great help for me.

I didn't find anything on Google, but that just could be my search string...

Does anyone make photoetch for the Revell Snaptite Max Falcon? The one I got is 85-1822, but I'm pretty sure they are all the same size.

blakeh1, thank you for that comparison. I'd already been eyeing my mothballed MPC cut-away for raw materials to scratch-build my full interior. Now I know it'll fit the Bandai better than I'd hoped. Still holding out for an ESB version or aftermarket mod parts before springing for the PG. I'm already going to have my work cut out -- I'd like to minimize just how much modding I'll have to do.

I'm not sure if I mentioned this on the other thread you posted these pics to, but you did a right bang up job making those sidewalls, well done sir! :thumbsup
I made my own sidewalls for the AMT cutaway:

taking some measurements of the reduced height, I cut the interior walls and managed to fit them inside too, but in order to achieve that (without a bad looking results), the height variation of the exterior sidewalls needs to be less than it should be. In this case I ended with a sidewall height of 16mm. None of the existing kits of short sidewalls have that height, they mostly be 15 or 14mm

The visored guy looks like they were replicating the kitbashed pilot used in the studio X-Wing model cockpits.

The MPC cockpit diameter is roughly 4 cm ( 1.6 " ) , while the Bandai one is about 4.5 cm (1.7")

The diameter of the saucer hull is 34 cm (13.4") for the MPC vs 36.5 cm (14.4") on the Bandai

Dug out my MPC cut-away kit to see how it compares... With my steel rulers I got a hair under 40mm for the cockpit diameter, so that matches. Where/how are you measuring the saucer? Going flat across, widest point to widest point (and bearing in mind that those cut-ins for the airlocks will impact things), I get 327mm -- well short of 34cm -- and when I do an actual diameter measurements (still flat across) I get 333mm -- closer, but still not 34cm. Were you measuring over the hull curvature? That's the only way I get close to 340mm...

Still and all, I've pulled out the interior pieces I might be able to use. Okans continue to be drawn up...
