MCU Spider-Man Homecoming ELECTRONIC lenses!!!

In all honesty I still dont think I've found the correct method here, there's still too much friction between the top and bottom shutter. The pico servos aren't very powerful, so they really need 0 friction.

Update: Scrapped the above method entirely for now.

Moving onto a method which requires a double faceshell setup. Luckily TJack sent me 2 to experiment with

still following this closely..... its great to see so much R&D on this. Most people would have given up by now. This is great!

I got an idea, you could make a motorised version of this one:

I think the mechanics on that version are a bit too complex for the effect he achieves. I can probably get the same effect with much less complex setup.

I'd be keen to learn how McClean has got his animation though. That movement is beautiful

Never give up!!!! This is my third complete reboot now. I've just ordered another set of servos in an attempt to try rotational servos instead of linear. Linear servos are just far too weak.

Im confident that this third attempt is the solution. I am still not happy with the style of animation, but it will do for now. It will mean that anyone who chooses to go my route will need to buy two face shells though.

Stay tuned. More photos and another video coming soon

In all honesty it's annoying me being stuck on what essentially boils down to friction, when I'm really looking forward to digging into the arduino and programming the emotions.

Here's some images of the face shells TJack sent me. You can see if I put one inside the other, there is a thin gap between the two. This is where my shutters will run, nicely with absolutely no friction at all. I have also noted that the electronics fit nicely in the gap too, and i suspect they will look awesome when all wired up and visible through that clear shell.

I will also be putting red LED's in this gap to light up the eyes during Insta-Kill mode. I just have a bad feeling that this will light the entire head up due to the clear nature of the shell. I'll be super frustrated if I have to paint it.

Plenty of space for sound-board amplifier and speaker as well. Well hello there Karren ;)

That projector looks fantastic!! Also, I don't know if it would enhance the "techy" sound of karens voice, but a transducer installed against the outer shell could be cool

My "This Bit" samples arrived ;)

SUPER BRIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!

And here's how they look when they are not turned on....

My new Servos Came. They are tiny!!!! I'm using Ultro Micro rotational servos this time.

They leave plenty of clearance between the bottom shell and my nose :)

I'm doing a kids party as Spider "Man" today, so I wont get to work on them until later this evening.

I was thinking about getting web shooters from John Donaldson, but I might just go with Ken's web shooters then :lol that spider signal looks awesome! Question though, would the light be activated by a momentary switch or click switch or something?

The light is activated by a momentary button on the top, similar to a laser pointer, but I'm going to experiment cutting mine apart to attach a slide switch and different batteries.

I wont be able to discuss the sales of these here I'm afraid, I've just been informed that only Premium members can sell stuff here. With that in mind I'll probably stick to using my Facebook page for that kinda thing so as not to get into trouble here. I've been with TheRPF for years now, and don't wanna annoy any of the mods.

You may not be able to sell on The RPF website, but you can sell on the RPF Facebook group and your facebook page too :)
