Just saw the video Sofa, you guys are amazing.

My women will sing of you around the fire tonight ;)

Hats off, good sir.

Sofa & Co in Wired mag:cool!! How cool and deserving that is!! Sofa, no need to do drugs/alcohol to be somewhere else: just sit in those chairs, in that cockpit, and let's dream;)
Krosnit, be prepared to roll up your sleeves, 'cause you'll need it:D

Hey sofa, finally commenting instead of creeping. I’m glad I got to stop by and see this thing in person today. Especially all the progress you made since I last saw it. It’s just too surreal to see this thing in person. The pictures do not do this justice. :)

Hi Gang,

Thanks so much for all the wonderful comments re: our Wired interview! It's been a crazy & amazing weekend since the article posted. We took a few minutes to enjoy, relax and then it was back to work! :)

Work on the pads continues!

ALWAYS remember to remove the thin transparent layer of film on both sides of the insulation foam before adhering together... ugh

IMG_20180506_121518_zpsfwp9sten.jpg

Again... interesting look but something seemed off compared to the corridor ring pads

Waiting for the pads to dry and before mounting, the exterior side of the ring had to be painted silver. I sprayed a base coat of black
IMG_20180505_094009_zpsacf2l8nc.jpg

IMG_20180505_094023_zpsddv5xdvu.jpg

IMG_20180505_112832_zpsvanxt6yq.jpg

The ring looked a bit too clean so I broke out the black wash
IMG_20180505_115508_zpsijskhmkt.jpg

I was intentionally messy when applying the wash before wiping the access away
IMG_20180505_115521_zpszl07vquv.jpg

IMG_20180506_080509_zpsmovorjem.jpg

I have to admit... They didn't go on correctly the first. I destroyed all photographic evidence of any and all failures! ;)
IMG_20180506_080523_zpsjxusvlqt.jpg

IMG_20180506_080529_zps1ppokqyg.jpg

WHOA! That was close
IMG_20180506_080537_zpsbm7bgzi6.jpg

IMG_20180506_151348_zpswyq344w0.jpg

Looking at the bottoms of the rings I thought they were a bit boring so I quickly designed this...
IMG_20180506_102652_zpszc5gfken.jpg

To sit here! Haven't finished it yet But I like the idea
IMG_20180506_102720_zpsxr7pxcqn.jpg

Next week... the dreaded canopy begins...

Stay tuned for more!

Looks great, and I never realized y’all were building this right around the corner from me. But it’s easy to believe that something like this would get made in the rocket city.

Damn fine work, Sofaking, you made this happen!

Hey SS,

Thanks so much! Couldn't have done a majority of it without ya! :)

- - - Updated - - -

It was great to finally see you in person (via the video) showing off your creation! What an awesome video!

Hey T,

Thanks so much! Wired did an amazing job making look halfway decent! ;)

- - - Updated - - -

I was checking the lasted on yahoo and I saw the link captioned, Meet the Star Wars Fans Building a Full-Scale Millennium Falcon.
I knew it was you guys right away before even clicking on it. Been such an awesome project

Hey JM,

Thank you for the kind words. More importantly, thanks for joining us on this amazing ride.

- - - Updated - - -

Pads are looking fantastic and much congrats on the article -you are more than deserving.

Thank you, my friend! I didn't think those pads would ever end! There are a ton of people involved in this project. I never could have done it alone. :)

- - - Updated - - -

Congratulations on the article! It's very, very well deserved!

Thanks, FF! And thank you for the continued support!

Great interview guys, Wired did a fantastic job of bringing it all together!

Better try and get this greeblie over to you asap before the show, keep'm crossed it arrives just in time.

View attachment 814910

AH... There she is! My FAV greeblie! Thanks so much Wavey! And you keep doing what you're doing! OH!!!! A Martin Baker Head cowl recently sold on Ebay UK for a 150! We think it was the same model and everything! UGH

Hey guys, have been following this thread for a while and have just watched the Wired interview... great stuff! It's plain to see that there's a lot of effort gone into this.

I just watched a clip from ESB with the Falcon, and instantly recognised a greeblie from recently reading the Dual Han in Carbonite thread (https://www.therpf.com/showthread.php?t=169984) ... apologies if you already know about it but if not, that's a Volvo 343 instrument panel. In another shot it looks like there's another on the other side from that one too. They must have bought a job lot of them for this film!

View attachment 814933

Edit: I feel I should also credit the original thread that identified the Volvo instrument panel on the carbonite slab: https://www.therpf.com/showthread.php?t=99579

Hey RA,

Thanks so much! Oh Yes... we've tried VERY hard to stay as accurate as we can get. In some places we've taken liberties but for the most part we've tried to remain true.

The Volvo Dash Panel! I have 6-8 panels sitting in the back room waiting to be reinstalled back onto the "Volvo Panels" (that's what I've labelled the main panels - those dreaded panels LOL). The original designers used the panels extensively throughout the SW universe - especially Empire. They are located not just in the cockpit and on HiC, but also the Star Destroyer, MedBay, etc. Most of the Star Destroyer panels were painted black and tough to see.

Great work just found the wired interview and was about to come congratulate on it, very cool was great to see more stuff and get a better idea of things.

Once again a huge thanks and congratulations for everything on this project it really is amazing what you have done and is fantastic to check in to see progress and watch it come together.

May the 4th be with you.

Loosebruce

Hey LB,

Thank you! Your continued support and kind words, along with others, is what keeps me going. Hopefully, we'll be able to meet up and geek out! :)

Thanks, Fuzz! I dont know about the world, but it's DEF been a fun ride.

This is Awesome! Just saw the Wired Video on youtube. I live in the Huntsville area! I'm an aircraft electrician by trade and have slowly been getting into the cosplay scene the past few years. I love creating things and would love to help in any way I can to advance the project. If you don't need any help, I'd still love to see it sometime, just drop me a line.

May the 4th be with you, and Happy Falcon Anniversary!

Hi K,

Thanks so much for the support, interest in helping and welcome to the RPF! I'll send you a PM! :)

Krosnit, be prepared to roll up your sleeves, 'cause you'll need it:D

You are absolutely correct, my friend! If we could get a IMAX style screen to wrap around the cockpit front and use simple XBox controllers to fly around in an open world... How fun would that be!?

Hey Hey, C!

It was great seeing you over the weekend! Thanks for the kind words and support. Feel free to stop by anytime dont be a stranger, ya bum! :)

Love the project you're working on!

Gang, for those Alien Fans out there, Coozco is working on a Alien Environmental MK50 Suit! For the first time ever, I got to see and wear the helmet from the famed suit. Coozco is doing an amazing job! Check it out!

Freaking awesome, looks really good with the pad in place !!!
Love the result !

Great job :)

Hey MB,

Thanks so much! I'm really happy with how the pads turned out. We went round and round and round trying to figure out how to even make them. Sometimes... keeping it simple is the best best method. :)

We'll have to get some crossover pics when I get the full suit finished up :p

Oh. My. Lanta. Such an AWESOME update!! Those pads look so good, and I love the splatter on the pipes inside the ring - it looks like some kind of fluid-carrying hose popped and sprayed everywhere. Such a great "lived-in" effect. Keep up the great work!

Really dug the Wired piece too - great stuff!

Really love your work and how its turn woth the pad (saw your previous try and this one is really great !)

Hat off ! :)

Those pads are seriously cool and completely change how the whole cockpit looks really take it to the next level ..... not that it needs to go to any more levels of coolness

And I do hope to get over at some point to come see it for a geek out session
